1 SELBY 2004 ( ) WATER SUPPLY ZONE. COMMENTARY ON WATER QUALITY The water supplied to the zone is classified as being hard water, which is borehole/river derived. As we have a grid system in place whereby we can move water around the Yorkshire region as required, occasionally the hardness of your water may vary. No fluoride is added to the water. Any fluoride that is there is naturally occurring. Samples taken in the period showed that the water complied in most respects with the prescribed standards. The infringement in respect of Total coliforms was isolated and not indicative of contamination of the system. Resamples taken were free from total coliforms. The infringement noted presents no hazard to public health. DETAILS OF UNDERTAKINGS AND NOTICES APPLICABLE 1) Undertaking YKS 3264 in relation to Total Pesticides and Metaldehyde, due to risk of pesticide residues in the raw water sources feeding Elvington and Loftsome Bridge water treatment works. Steps to be taken involve optimising treatment where possible and additionally to liaise with the Environment Agency, farmers, agronomists and other stakeholders to minimise inputs of this substance into the catchments serving our treatment works. The target is to secure compliance for both parameters by 31 March ) Notice YKS 3261 in relation to Total Coliforms, E.coli, Other faecal indicators and compliance with Regulation 26 from Cowick water treatment works. Implement enhanced monitoring strategy including all parameters identified as a risk to wholesomeness in the water supplied from Cowick water treatment works and carry out installation of UV disinfection system to be implemented by 30 April ) Notice YKS 3262 in relation to Total Coliforms, E.coli, Other faecal indicators and compliance with Regulation 26 from Heck water treatment works. The company has implemented an enhanced monitoring strategy including all parameters identified as a risk to wholesomeness in the water supplied from Heck water treatment works and will carry out installation of UV disinfection system, to be implemented by 30 April Information & Regulation July 2017 Page 1 of 7 1 st January st December 2016
