1. Introduction Rhino Report of Findings Script (This script is for demonstration purposes only.) Good evening Susan, Jim I am Dr.. It is a pleasure to meet you. I appreciate you coming tonight. We asked you to come in so you understand your wife s condition and we can answer any questions and concerns you may have right away. Have you ever been to a chiropractor before? If Patient responds, Yes How was that experience good and bad? If Patient responds, No What have you heard good and bad? ** If the spouse is not at the ROF start with step #2. 2. Opening statement with an assertive, We can help you! Susan, your radiological findings indicate that we can help you. But we have a lot of work to do. The purpose of your visit today is to first show you how the structural biomechanics of your spine differ from a healthy spine. The second goal is to give you our recommendations for relief and correction. Does that sound good? Patient responds, Yes ** Use a model of a spine to show the patient what a healthy spine looks like. A healthy spine is straight from front to back with a level, balanced pelvis. The pelvis is the structural foundation of the spine. You want it to be level just like you want the foundation of your house to be level. Any twist in the pelvis can cause distortions anywhere in the spine. From the side a healthy spine has 4 curves. These curves are extremely important. They function like shock absorbers allowing you to withstand the forces of movement and gravity without any damage. These curves keep the spine flexible.
You can see these pictures of dams and bridges all have curves. The curves allow them to withstand large amounts of force without sustaining damage. Ideally we want these curves to be 43 degrees. Research shows significant neurological and musculoskeletal conditions are associated with curves less than 20 degrees. Do you remember the term we use when a bone in your spine is out of alignment? Patient responds Subluxation If the patient doesn t respond with, Subluxation. Show the patient a poster with the word subluxation on it. Then make the patient say it, Subluxation. ** A subluxation poster should be in every doctor s ROF room. It gives the patient the opportunity to not only verbalize the word, but visualize it as well. That s correct. Do you remember the 2 effects of a subluxation? Patient responds, Pain. That is true subluxation can cause pain. The reason subluxations cause pain is they put pressure on (pinch, irritate or compress) nerves. The pressure creates interference between the brain and the body. The second effect of the subluxation process is spinal decay and soft tissue degeneration. When subluxated the hard bone wears down or causes degeneration of the soft discs and joints. The body reacts to the degenerative process by laying down more hard bone, the body s attempt to stabilize the weakened area. Therefore, the 2 effects of a subluxation are interference and decay. When the cervical spine is subluxated the soft tissue damage weakens the spine. As a result the spine begins to lose its curve. The loss of curve causes the spinal cord and brain stem to stretch, increasing neurological interference and accelerating decay and degeneration. Do you understand everything I have covered thus far?
3. Establish radiological findings of a healthy spine These are the radiological findings of a healthy cervical spine. The upper cervical lines are parallel indicating no pressure or interference to the brain stem. Can you see how the gravitational stress line is touching the vertebral bodies? This indicates the head is directly over the shoulders. The vertebral lines are converging, but not crossing indicating all the vertebrae are in alignment. The Ruth Jackson stress lines are intersecting between C4 and C5 indicating a healthy lordotic curve. Can you see how all the discs are thick and healthy? Can you see how the vertebral bodies are smooth? Because the cervical spine is subluxation free there is no decay or degeneration. Would you like to see your x-rays? 4. Evaluate patient s radiological findings AND 5. Acknowledge the subluxation as the cause of their problem. These are the radiological findings of your spine. This is your neck from the side. Can you see your upper cervical lines are diverging? This indicates an upper cervical subluxation in your spine. Your occiput is stuck in extension and your atlas has gone superior. This is causing your headaches. Can you see your gravitational stress line is 2.9cm in front of your vertebral bodies? That means your head is 2.9cm in front of your body.
Research shows every 2.5cm of forward head posture adds an additional 10 pounds of pressure to your CNS and your cervical, dorsal and lumbar spine. You have about 12 pounds of extra pressure on your spine and CNS. This is contributing to your back pain. Can you hold this 10-pound weight to your chest? Do you feel how easy it is? Now, hold the weight out in front of your body? Do you feel how much harder that is? That is exactly what is happening in your spine. We can adjust your pelvis, but if we don t address your forward head posture there is a good chance your back pain will not go away. Can you see how the vertebral lines at C5 are severely diverging? This indicates your C5 vertebra has subluxated posterior. Can you see how your Ruth Jackson stress lines are not intersecting? This indicates you have no curve in your cervical spine. These are the radiological findings of your pelvis. This is your pelvis from front to back. This is your right hip and this is your left hip. Your right hip measures 76mm longer than your left. This indicates you have a PI Ilium, meaning your right hip has twisted backwards. Your Sacro-iliac joints are responsible for dispersing the forces that come up from your femurs and down through your spine. When your pelvis is subluxated, the SI joints are weakened and your body must recruit muscles to help hold your pelvis together. Unfortunately these muscles are not designed to do this and overtime they inflame and fatigue. The inflamed muscles irritate the nerves and cause pain. What happens when you twist a wet sponge? Patient responds, The water comes out.
That s correct. When your pelvis is rotated it compresses your L5 disc, just like the sponge. This can dehydrate the disc and accelerate degeneration. ** Evaluate all other radiological views in the same fashion, with scientific language, analogies or demonstrations and questions. 6. Confirm phase of degeneration Here is your cervical spine again. Would you agree you are in phase 2 of the subluxation degeneration process? Can you see how your C5 disc is thinner than these discs? Can you see how your C5 vertebral body is curving? That is decay and degeneration, which is caused by your subluxations. 7. Use oldest trauma as the cause of subluxation The level of degeneration in your spine indicates these subluxations have been there between 10 and 17 years. Correlating your x-rays with your history leads me to believe that the car accident you had 15 years ago is the original cause of your subluxations. 8. Express urgency If we don t address this, what do you think will happen? Patient responds, It will get worse. That s correct. You mentioned during the consultation you have been having difficulty working and sleeping. If your subluxations get worse, how do you think that will affect those areas of your life? Patient responds, I might not to be able to work at all. That is what I am concerned about.
9. Relate subluxations to the organs innervated and associated conditions You have a subluxation here at C1. These nerves supply your heart, pituitary gland, and lungs. Subluxations at this level are associated with headaches, migraines, neck pain and stiffness, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, insomnia and asthma. You also have a subluxation here at C5. These nerves supply function down the arm as well as to the thyroid gland. Subluxations here can cause pain, numbness and tingling down the arm. The thyroid gland is responsible for the anabolic properties in your body, meaning the thyroid gland is responsible for regenerating and rebuilding your body. Subluxations here can prevent proper regeneration, creating major problems throughout your body. You have another subluxation here at L5. These nerves supply your bladder, rectum and sexual organs. Subluxations at L5 have been associated with frequent urination, diarrhea, constipation, infertility in women, and erectile dysfunction in men. 10. How long This is our menu of services, the procedures we perform in our office set by the department of Arizona. It states that an adjustment can range between $55 and $65; we have chosen $55. We will also have you perform traction and therapeutic exercises. Therefore, a visit in this office may range from $55 to $140. Your body is like a house with a hole in the roof. You have been through some stress, you have had the car accident and you mentioned your work has been very stressful. Stress is like a thunderstorm coming through. The thunderstorm has created a puddle in your house that is like your pain. Our first goal is to get you out of pain as soon as possible.
That is called relief care and usually takes around 12 visits. It could take a few more and it could take a few less. Twelve is just an average. I can t give you an exact date because there are many factors that play a role and impact your body s ability to heal: what you eat, how you exercise, genetics and how much stress you are under. However, if we stop at relief care the hole in the roof will not be corrected. The hole in the roof represents your subluxations. What this means is the next time you are under any type of stress your problems will come right back. Corrective care for an adult with this severity of subluxations can take between 24 weeks and 24 months. I know that seems like a longtime, but how long does it take to straighten teeth? Patient responds, A couple years. That s correct, it takes time to move bones. When your spine is subluxated it heals through a process called the fibrosis of repair. During this process your body lays down fibrotic tissue and you basically heal out of alignment. Each visit we will adjust you, making minute corrections in your spine. The exercises we have you perform retrain your soft tissues, holding your spine in an improved position. We will check you 3 times a week for 12 weeks. At the end of the 12 weeks we will do a re-x-ray and progress report to make sure you are improving the way we want. Typically after the initial 12 weeks we are able to reduce the frequency to once a week. If relief is all you are looking for, we will check you 3 times a week and when you are out of pain you will be done. It is $55 a visit or you can pay $119 a week. However, we have much more cost effective plans for correction. Are you interested in that?
11. Find level of commitment Are you committed to correcting your subluxations? Are you a 100% committed? 12. How much You can pay 55 a visit for the 48 visits plus two re-x-rays. The out of pocket charge for 4 x-rays is 99. That comes to The more visits you pay for at one time saves us time and we pass that savings back to you. You can pay 105 a week for the first 12 weeks and 35 a week after that plus two x-rays. That comes to 1878 for the 24 weeks saving you 960 dollars. You can pay 239 per month for 6 months and that will include the re-x-rays. That comes to 1434 and saves you 444 dollars over the weekly plan. You can also pre-pay for the 24 weeks and receive a 15% discount. That comes to 1219 and saves you 215 dollars over the monthly plan. What would you like to do? ** After the patient chooses the payment plan cover the requirements in your office. We have two requirements in our office. 100% commitment to the care plan you chose and you said you are. Attend our NPO
