CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS: SPRING 2011 Principal Investigator: Untangling Mental Disorder and Criminal Behavior Conducting in-depth interviews with 150 offenders with mental illness through Hennepin County Mental Health Court. Study explores the complex relationship between symptoms of mental illness and criminal behavior, in order to improve prevention and intervention programming for this high-risk population. Project Co-Coordinator: Evaluating Outcomes for Insanity Acquittees on Specialty Probation Program evaluation of a specialty probation department designed for insanity acquittees in Hawaii. Conducting assessments of criminal and mental health outcomes after hospital release to assess program effectiveness. Project Co-Coordinator: Self-Perceptions of Violence and Self-Harm among Psychiatric Inpatients 5-year NIH study examining the ability of psychiatric inpatients to make predictions about their own future violent and self-harming behavior over fourmonth follow-up periods.
