1 ANALYSIS OF SELECTED PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COMPONENTS BETWEEN RIGHT AND LEFT FOOT DOMINANTS AMONG KABADDI PLAYERS Dr. C. DURAI Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physical Education and Sports, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Abishekapatti, Tirunelveli-12, Tamilnadu, India Abstract The purpose of the study was to analyze the physiological and psychological components between right and left foot dominants among kabaddi players. To achieve the purpose of the study, 24 male Kabaddi(12 right foot dominant and 12 left foot dominant ) players were randomly selected from the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, India and their age ranged between from years. Breath holding time and Resting pulse rate, Aggression,Trait anxiety, were selected as independent variables and they were tested by using Breath holding time were tested by Radial pulse method and Manual nostril clip method and Resting pulse rate. Aggression questionnaire developed Smiths, Trait anxiety inventory developed by Spielberger (1983). The collected data was statistically analyzed by independent t test and it was tested df 0.05 level of confidence. The result shown that there was a significant difference exist on 1 and 2 variables and there no significant exist on 2 & 3 between right foot dominant left foot dominant among Kabaddi players. Key words: Research Attitude, Physical Education. INTRODUCTION Kabaddi is played in all corner of Indian village. The system of play was varying from state to state. It is physical dominating game which is related to our culture. The game requires both skill and power. Recently tremendous amount of changes occur in the game to meet out the demand and to further development. In sports, successful performance in competition depends substantially on the physical characteristics, body composition, muscular performance, neuromuscular capability and mental ability of the players. (Rao, 2002) [1]. Alonso, Brech, Bourquin, Greve, (2011) Leg dominance is an often discussed factor amongst both healthy and injured athletes. In healthy adults, leg dominance seems to have no influence on knee open kinetic chain proprioception and single-leg postural control. Pulse is an indication of heart rate. The number of times a person's heart beats per minute is called heart rate. Normal heart rate varies from person to person, for an adult the normal heart rate is between 60 to 100 beats per minute. Normally, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. Breath holding time is the time taken by the subject to hold his/her breath as long as he/she can. Regular physical activities prolongs the breath holding time, thus helps an athletes to improve their respiratory endurance and their performance (Bagavad Geetha M, Roopa S., Subhashini AS and Syed Sulthan K. (2014) [5]
2 Sport psychology had not yet emerged as a distinct discipline, the pioneering work of these early sport psychologists have raised numerous issues and paved the way for much of our current work and research (Gill, 1986) [2]. Weineck, (1999) [3] explained that competitive sport has become more violent and aggressive. Aggression is any interpersonal behavior intended to cause physical harm or mental distress to a person or persons. It can be defined as an unprovoked physical or verbal assault in sports framework. Aggressiveness as the intent to commit such an assault, and also been defined as an overt verbal or physical act that can psychologically or physically injure another person or oneself. The acts of aggression on the part of an athlete will constitute a distraction and result in a poor performance in sports and games. Similarly Anxiety results when the individual doubts his or her ability to cope with the situation that causes him or her stress (Hardy L 1996) [6]. Although anxiety can have a considerable impact on sports performance. A scientific analysis of the player's performance with respect to their skills might help in a much more positive way. This is enable not only the right type of selection based on scientific data but also help in maximizing the player's potentials by regrouping and synchronizing the team talents that are available. Hence, the selection, the training, the performance and monitoring of game strategies can be updated by conducting periodic research on players. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The purpose of the study was to analyze the selected physiological and psychological component between right foot dominant left foot dominant among Kabaddi players. METHODOLOGY To achieve the purpose of the study 24 male Kabaddi (12 right foot dominant and 12 left foot dominant ) players were randomly selected from department of physical education and sports, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, India and their age ranged between from years. Trait anxiety, Aggression, Resting pulse rate and Breath holding time, were selected as independent variables and they were tested by using Trait anxiety inventory developed by Spielberger (1983) Aggression questionnaire developed Smiths. Resting pulse rate and Breath holding time were tested by Radial pulse method and Manual nostril clip method. The collected data was statistically analyzed by independent t test and it was tested by 0.05 level of confidence to find the significant differences between the selected groups. ANALYSIS OF DATA The collected data were analyzed and presented RESTING PULSE RATE The independent t test on resting pulse rate between right and left foot dominants among kabaddi players have been analyzed and the result are presented in the table I TABLE I The Summary of Mean Values and Independent t Test on Resting Pulse Rate Between Right Foot And Left Foot Dominants Kabaddi Players GROUP NUMBER MEAN SD t RATIO Right foot Dominants Left foot Dominants From the table I, the independent t -test values between kabaddi players men s were and respectively. The mean values of Left foot dominant and Right foot dominant on physiological variables were graphically represented in figure I

DISCUSSION ON FINDINGS The results conclusion of the study was supported by the following findings. Mehdi Rouissi et at all, (2016) [8] the aim of this study was compared, young soccer players to analyse, the effect of using DL and non-dominant leg (NDL) on time performance of two change of direction manoeuvres in several angles of COD. He concluded the greater strength of the DL compared to the NDL may contribute to COD performance difference between legs). Eilif Haaland., Hoff. J., (2003) [9] evaluated bilateral motor performance effects from training the nondominant leg of competitive soccer players. The subjects were 39 soccer players, years of age, performance-matched and randomly divided into a training group (n = 18) and a control group (n = 21) both belonging to the same team. The standardised foot-tapping tests revealed similar results. The results might be explained by improved generalised motor programmes, or from a Dynamic Systems Approach, indicating that the actual training relates to the handling of all the information available to the subject in the situation, and that the body self-organises the motor performance
6 CONCLUSION 1. There was a significant deference exists between left and right foot dominant on resting pulse rate. 2. There was a significant deference exists between left and right foot dominant on breath holding 3. There was a significant deference exists between left and right foot dominant on aggression 4.
