1 The Pinballs Final Project: Character Quilt You will create one patch of a quilt for one main character from the novel. These items can be placed in any section inside your quilt. Your border is the only item that must be placed around the edge of your patch. Requirements: Your patch must include the following: Border: You will have to create a border around your quilt patch with 2 symbols that represent your character from the novel. An explanation paragraph of why you chose the symbol(s) must be written on your explanation sheet. Quote: Include 2 significant quotes (something they said) made by the character in the novel. These can be written anywhere inside of the border. An explanation paragraph of why you chose the quotes(s) must be written on the explanation sheet. Scene: Each character in the novel undergoes a change. You will have to draw 2 scenes from the novel that helped to change your character. The scene can be placed anywhere inside of the patch. An explanation paragraph of why you chose the scenes and how they changed the character must be written on the explanation sheet. Character Traits: You need to find 10 words that describe your character. There should be 5 words that describe your character in the first half of the book and 5 words that describe your character during the second half of the book. These words can be placed anywhere inside of the patch. For each word you choose you will have to explain why the word was chosen for your character, using evidence from the novel to support your choice. Question Prediction Tree: At the end of the novel we re left not knowing what eventually happened to each character. You will make a question prediction tree by creating 5 questions about the future of your character and place it inside of your patch. You can design the prediction tree anyway you want. Be creative. The interpretation is up to you. Use your Q-Chart to create these questions. You may also use questions that you already have written on your q-chart. Effective Use of Time: You will be graded on how well you use the class time given to you, to complete this project. This means you are on task from Tuesday through Thursday, thereby leaving minimal work to be completed at home. Learning to manage your time is an essential skill you will be glad you learned. Points Border and explanation pts Quote and explanation pts Scene and explanation pts Vocabulary and explanation pts Question Prediction Tree and answers pts Time management.10 pts Total pts I don t want any sloppily rushed projects! Neatness counts, spelling counts, and color is a must. Use the novel, character maps, and Q-charts as a resource. I expect you to put full effort into this project. You will have some time to work on this in class but you will have to work on it outside of class. It is due on Tuesday, October 4th.
