4 Introduction Write in paragraph form, restating the question at the beginning. 1. What are unique structures that are in plant cells? 2. What are the three unique structures for? 3. What is unique about animal cells? 4. What is the purpose of this lab? 5. State your hypothesis (your hypothesis should answer the experimental question of the lab: what are the differences between plant an animal cells? Describe what you predict you will see in a plant cell and an animal cell.
5 Procedure Elodea Investigation 1. Get 1 elodea leaf, place in center of slide, place coverslip over 2. Look under microscope at 4X. Move slide to find a good section of cells. 3. Look using 10X objective. Use fine focus. Move slide if desired X, draw what you see in your field of view. Make sure it is detailed. Include at least 3 cells in your drawing. 5. Label the cell with any known structures. Cheek Cell Investigation 1. Using a toothpick, gently scrape against the inside of your cheek. 2. GENTLY roll the end of the toothpick on the center of the slide. 3. Put one drop of methylene blue. Carefully place slide cover. Look under microscope at 4X. Move slide to find a good section of cells. 4. Look using 10X objective. Use fine focus. Move slide if desired X, draw what you see in your field of view. Be detailed. Include at least 3 cells in
