Int J Geriatr Psychiatry, 19: , Diagnoses The CSI-D is a screening instrument that can discriminate between normal cognition and impaired cognition but it alone does not yield a clinical diagnosis. The 10/66 research group combines the CSI-D cognitive score, gives extra weight to the animal naming item, and adds the 10 word list learning task from CERAD, and the GMS/AGECAT. The resulting algorithm does yield a diagnosis of dementia. The rates of dementia for the algorithm are 1.4 to 2.7 times higher than rates using criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV). a. All dementia b.
