1 Daily Preparation and Written Work OUTPATIENT PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY CLINIC Outpatient Pediatric Oncology Clinic Providence Hospital Outpatient, Hilton Tower, 1 st floor, ( ) I. Prior to Clinical Chapter 26: Child with Hematologic or Immunologic Dysfunction 1. First Page a. Overall impression b. List the variety of client s seen at the clinic in terms of age, sex, and diagnosis c. Legal and ethical d. Medications: Note any medications administered or discussed during the clinic visit. Comment on the context in which the medication was discussed during the visit to include any conclusion about its use. When applicable, include the specific dosage for that client and if the dose is consistent with recommended dosages. 2. Second Page (Physical changes, physical medications, roles of others, reactions to health status, communication). a. List the physical changes of oncology conditions observed while at the clinic. b. Identify role of family and siblings, and significant others with pediatric oncology clients. d. Observe and record physical and emotional reaction to health care procedures necessary to treat pediatric oncology clients. e. Observe communication skills utilized by health care providers in the outpatient pediatric oncology setting. 3. Nursing Process Complete the abbreviated nursing process forms included in the packet, for two different clients. 4. Growth and Development Compare the textbook description of growth and development with the assessment of one specific child in the facility and/or clinic to include: physical, intellectual, emotional-social, and sexual-moral development depending on the age.
