This paper is to develop an optimum information system to promote the ability of accomplishing daily life in patients with dementia. Study participants(116 patients) were patients who were diagnosed with dementia at least 6 months ago by neuropsychiatric department of a general hospital in metropolitan area. The results of this study are as follows. First, for the mean scores of the depression status, respondents score(42.93±0.16) after intervention significantly decreased than subjects(68.36±1.47) before intervention(t=0.95, p=.001). Second, the follow-up survey was estimated to be higher in the experimental group, regardless of the time elapsed of 30 days after the information intervention. Therefore, a comprehensive and systematic adoption of an information system to minimize the damage of dementia will contribute effectively to the rapid disease recovery and prevention. Keywords: Optimum information system, Ability, Daily life, Patients, Dementia 1 Introduction The dementia is widely considered to be the second leading cause of dementia after Alzheimer s disease. It develops when there is impaired blood flow, which would deprive cells of blood and oxygen, in some parts of the brain[1],[2].. A number of cross-sectional epidemiological studies have reported that one-fourth of elderly patients meet criteria for dementia 3 months after ischemic stroke, but few longitudinal studies of the incidence of dementia after stroke have been performed. Approximately 10% of persons older than 65 years and about 50% of those older than 85 years have dementia. Previous study found increased risk for dementia and no effect on mild cognitive impairment in women treated with conjugated equine estrogens[3],[4]. In order to solve the urgent problem, we should look for the practical plans. However, there were few studies to deal with effect of information system to improve the ability of complishing daily life in patients with dementia until present in Korea. We also don t have any national program about it. Therefore, the comprehensive and integrated information systems including chronic disease are urgently needed to ISSN: ASTL Copyright 2014 SERSC

2 control the increasing prevalence of dementia and produce its related desirable outcomes. The following study presents a new solution to improve the activity of complishing daily activity in patients with dementia. This paper sought to apply the effect of it on the change of practice behavior of subjects to promote the ability of accomplishing daily life in patients with dementia using the information system. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to a new experimental model for measurement of information system to improve the ability of accomplishing daily life in patients with dementia. A comprehensive and systematic adoption of an information system to minimize the damage of dementia will contribute effectively to the rapid disease recovery and prevention. 2 Materials and Methods 2.1 Study Materials This information system was developed through review of existing literature, assessment of patients education needs, available updates on dementia information, web site analysis and solicitation of expert advice throughout the development process. Study participants were patients who were diagnosed with dementia at least 6 months ago by neuropsychiatric department of a general hospital in metropolitan area. The data were collected by interview and self-administered questionnaire from March 17 through April 18, This program was totally consisted 116 persons, it has been divided into two parts. The experimental group of 58 patients which was assigned as group with information intervention, while the control group of 58 patients was assigned as group with no information intervention. 2.2 Study Methods General characteristics of study subjects were measured by percentage and number. The pairwise t-test was done to compare the before and after intervention effect of health practice rate in dementia patients. It was also performed to determine a statistically significant difference in mean scores between the two groups on the satisfaction of a new model for measurement of an information system to improve the ability of accomplishing of daily life in dementia patients. All associations were considered to be statistically significant if the two-sided P value was.05 or less. 3 3.1 Comparison of Health Practice of Before and After Information Intervention Table 1 represents comparison of health practice of dementia patients before and after information intervention. For the mean scores of the depression status, respondents score(42.93±0.16) after intervention significantly decreased than subjects(68.36±1.47) before intervention(t=0.95, p=.001). On the other hand, there was a statistically significant difference in practicing the healthy lifestyles of exercising after information intervention(t=-1.27, p=.000). However, the intervention effect was estimated to decrease more rapidly with time elapsed of 60 days after intervention in the experimental group as compared to the control group. 24 Copyright 2014 SERSC

Follow-up of the Practice Rate of Health Behavior Between Two Groups 4 Discussion The present study conducted to investigate basic data for the development of a new information system necessary for the dementia prevention and management by examining the control of stress, mental health and physical symptoms. This attempt of a new information system was evaluated to have brought about a significant improvement in health management of dementia patients. The intervention effect did not significantly decrease hypertension, and then a multi-displinary approach is required to reduce the factors related to hypertension. As a result of this study, statistically significantly positive changes of behaviors such as taking walnut, controlling body weight, and drinking alcohol diminished the progression rate of dementia. The findings were similar to previous studies on other brain diseases[2],[5]. This study suggests that individuals with dementia should be targeted for specific health behavioral intervention to prevent the progression of dementia. Based on the results obtained by the study, it is anticipated that this paper may be used as basic data for developing and interventing health promotion behavior for the brain disease patients. However, in order to maintain desirable health behaviors, convergence educational program for dementia patients on health promoting behavior is more successful than single program. The results of this paper, after receiving intervention, there was a positive change for the health behavior after intervention than before intervention in the mean score of having vegetables. The finding was consistent with the result of earlier research[4],[6]. Therefore, it needs to perform systematic health management. 5 Conclusion This paper is to develop an optimum information system to promote the ability of accomplishing daily life in patients with dementia. For this purpose, this research developed an information system. It conducted a positive effect on health improvement of dementia patients. According to this research, the information system on health management for dementia patients will be contributed on the prevention construction of any hospital or society. Therefore, this system can be extended to inpatient or outpatient departments. With integration of information system, the effective management of other brain disease would also be possible.
