Open Forum Discussion of Any Maintenance Problems Being Found and Obtain Input on Maintenance and Stormwater Issues - Keegan Black/Everyone Objective: Use opportunity to discuss with other maintenance staff any maintenance or stormwater issues being encountered. 5. New Subcommittee Chair Kristin Kerr/Everyone Objective: Find volunteer to take over as Subcommittee chair. 6. Vendor Presentation Dan Toda, Reed and Graham Objective: Hear about stormwater BMP products for municipal maintenance activities and facilities. 7. Other Business 8. Next Meeting TBD in FY 18-19
2 DRAFT SUMMARY Municipal Maintenance Subcommittee Meeting Mission Blue Community Center Brisbane Meeting Date: August 23, 2017 Subcommittee Actions: 1. Agreed that the summary of the May 2017 subcommittee meeting was acceptable. Requested Stormwater Committee Action or Feedback/Guidance (if any): None Other Information/Announcements: Corporation Yard Inspections. Kristin reminded the group that a minimum annual inspection of your corporation yard must be conducted in September. If you find an active discharge it must cease immediately. For other problems with BMPs corrective actions must be implemented within 10 business days or before the next rain event. Annual Report. The Annual Report workshop was held July 26 th. Section C.2 was briefly discussed. A Regional Water Board June 30, 2017 letter documented MRP Provision C.9 Pesticide Toxicity Controls Noncompliance Issues. Municipal maintenance staff that assist with completing Section C.9 of the Annual Report should review the letter. A table is attached to the letter that details individual city FY15-16 Annual Report C.9.a and C.9.c responses. In July an updated SMCWPPP Pesticide Tracking Excel Template was ed to the Subcommittee for use in FY17-18, as needed. Municipal Maintenance Subcommittee Meetings. The SMCWPPP budget and scope for FY 17/18 includes two Municipal Maintenance Subcommittee Meetings. This meeting, August 2017, is the first one. The second meeting will be held in February/March There will be no Rural Roads BMP training and no municipal maintenance training this FY. Municipalities with rural roads will have to ensure staff are trained at least twice during the current permit term on rural road BMPs. Kristin shared information on a Workshop on Maintaining and Improving Rural Roads that will be held in Los Gatos. Open Forum Discussion on Maintenance Issues. The group discussed moving to electronic tracking of maintenance activities. Half Moon Bay made some revisions to the SMCWPPP Trash Full Capture Device Inspection Field Form which was shared with the group. CASQA is developing Municipal Operations Training Videos that may be ready this fall. Kristin will gather information on different training videos available and provide to the Subcommittee. For example: the training video for Small MS4s on illicit discharge investigations ( and the San Diego County Stormwater Strategies Housekeeping video with corporation yard BMPs ( 1
3 Vendor Presentation. Marcel Sloane and Charlie Fleischmann from REM, Inc. presented their products for storm drain protection including hydrocarbon filters. They brought examples of their Triton Drop Inlet filter and Weighted Walnut Wattle. Marcel mentioned that some of their municipal clients obtain Oil Grant money to install full trash capture devices that include hydrocarbon removal media. Marcel can be reached at or Subcommittee Work that Affects Other Subcommittees: None. Next Steps: Solicit topics for the next meeting. Provide information on training videos available to municipal maintenance staff. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be February/March
