Approval Of Meeting Agenda Director Dagostino motioned to approve the meeting agenda. The motion was seconded by Ted Owen and unanimously approved. 2 TOPIC Ratification Of Minutes DISCUSSION Sandy Tucker motioned to approve the May 18, 2017 CHAC meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Gigi Gleason and unanimously approved. ACTION FOLLOW UP Presentation: Live Well San Diego Carey Riccitelli Carey Riccitelli presented information about the County of San Diego s Live Well San Diego program. Carey provided the following information: 3 key behaviors result in 4 diseases responsible for over 50% of deaths in San Diego: 1. No Physical Activity 2. Poor Diet 3. Tobacco Use 1. Cancer 2. Heart Disease & Stroke 3. Type 2 Diabetes 4. Lung Disease Over 50% of Deaths in San Diego Live Well San Diego is built on three core principles Building Better Health, Living Safely, and Thriving. Strategic approaches for community integration include Building a better service delivery system, supporting positive choices, pursuing policy & environmental changes and improving the culture within. Alignment of strategies across all sectors will include Community & Faith-Based Organizations, Business & Media, Schools & Education, and Cities and Governments There are currently over 290 recognized partners across multiple sectors There are 5 predominant areas of influence: Health, Knowledge, Standard of Living, Community, and Social. 2 P age

3 Presentation: Live Well San Diego Carey Riccitelli Carey and her associate, Kat Casabar, addressed audience questions. Many committee members noted their agreement with this program and suggested it be brought to the attention of the TCMC Board of Directors. Upon motion made by Linda Ledesma and seconded by Bret Schanzenbach, the CHAC agreed that the program should be presented to the TCMC Board of Directors for consideration of partnership. CEO Update Steve Dietlin CEO Steve Dietlin updated the group as follows: Steve thanked Carey for her Live Well San Diego presentation to the. Steve recognized Scott Ashton and the successful Oceanside Heroes event on June 14 th, noting that many Oceanside community heroes were rightfully honored for their contributions. The Campus Redevelopment budget should be made available to the Board of Directors in the next few weeks. The redevelopment will include Phase 1: parking improvements and Phase 2: patient beds and earthquake guidelines. Steve encouraged everyone to consider participating in the upcoming Heart Walk scheduled for September 30 th. 3 P age

4 COO Update Kapua Conley Chief Operating Officer Kapua Conley reported as follows: Kapua noted that CHAC member, Dr. Victor Souza MD, will be the new incoming Chief of Staff at TCMC. Sandy Tucker requested an update on the Discharge Lounge. Kapua noted that it is going well and beginning to provide positive results concerning patient days. A comment was made about the CSU and BHU. Kapua noted that they too are making good progress and having an impactful improvement on wait times. Kapua also acknowledged the great UCSD professionals who assisted with the mental health improvements. Member Fernando Sanudo acknowledged Kapua Conley for his helpfulness with a variety of questions and issues brought to his attention. Chair Julie Nygaard noted that the changes provide a caring and much improved way to continue to care for our patients. Chief Marketing Officer Update David Bennett Chief Marketing Officer David Bennett reported as follows: Marketing will continue to finalize sponsorships for the new FY. 4 P age

5 Chief Marketing Officer Update David Bennett (con t) Currently working with Jim Flores to finalize the details of the backpac program and will share information with the committee in the near future. David supported the previous comments encouraging everyone s participation in the upcoming Heart Walk. Vacancies CHAC Grant Update Public Comments Chair Julie Nygaard noted there remains two vacancies on the that need to be filled, but one candidate has come forward for consideration for the Vista District opening. Gigi Gleason noted that the grant recommendations were presented to the Board of Directors who approved the recommendations. Gigi thanked everyone for their support through this process. The CHAC check presentation ceremony is scheduled for June 29 th. There were no public comments. Communications Dung Ngo agreed to provide information to committee members about deductions and write offs that may be available to their organizations. Bret Schanzenbach noted that the Moonlight production season opened June 14 th and encouraged everyone to check out the upcoming productions. Bret also thanked TCMC for their help in the Strawberry Festival. 5 P age

6 Communications (con t) Sandy Tucker noted that the Auxiliary will be holding an awards ceremony to honor volunteers with 500+ hours of service to TCMC. Rosemary Eshelman proposed the idea that the CHAC committee members be able to tour TCMC. Gigi Gleason reminded everyone of the July 1 Mainstreet Oceanside Independence Day parade. Rick Robinson noted that multi-city terrorist exercises were recently performed to narrow down areas of need or vulnerability, with very good results and positive outcomes of preparedness. Rick also noted that fireworks are illegal and can result in large fines. Scott Ashton thanked TCMC for their help with the Operation Appreciation and Oceanside Heroes events. Carol Herrera noted that her school district recently graduated over 1700 students with $4 million in scholarships. Linda Ledesma thanked TCMC for their exciting ads, noting they make her feel proud of her hospital. Dr. Souza reminded the group that various doctors in the community are speaking about exciting subjects at the TC Wellness Center and encouraged attendance when possible. 6 P age

7 Communications (con t) Fernando Sanudo noted that some VCC programs are currently overwhelmed, including HEP C treatment, and measures are being taken to assist this. Guest Gwen Sanders noted that the annual NAACP event Juneteenth will take place on in downtown Oceanside on June 17 th. Adjournment The CHAC meeting was adjourned at 1:38pm. 7 P age
