2 1 H20 ON THE GO Research has shown that drinking water first thing in the morning increases the rate at which we will burn calories and fat. In fact, one study found that peoples metabolic rate increased by an incredible 30% within 10 minutes of drinking water. Another benefit of turning the tap on first thing in the morning and drinking some h2o is that it can help us look and feel younger! With water helping to remove toxins from our bodies. TIP Power up your water with some lemon and apple cider vinegar to help your digestion and burn fat.
3 2 2 don t skip breakfast Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day! Research from Columbia University shows that skipping breakfast can increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Women who skipped breakfast were 5cm bigger around their middles and on average 20% heavier than those who did eat breakfast. Try having a Lady Shake for breakfast!
4 3 TONE IT UP Yes, if you want to burn fat 24/7 then tone up. As muscles burn nearly six times more calories than body fat, plus the more muscle you have the easier it is for your body to process sugar and help stave off diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. However, don t worry you won t need to spend hours sweating it out in the gym or doing long slow boring cardio exercises like riding a bike. Instead, research has proven that all your muscles need is 10 minutes of the rapid resistance training exercises. TIP Create your own work out that incorporates 30 sec sets with 30 sec rest in between each exercise and repeat this circuit twice for a total of 10 min.
5 4 fasting Time restricted eating is the best way to lose weight and keep it off as it gives your body an opportunity to break down food. Ideally, a hour eating window is ideal so if you have your first meal at 8am then you should have your last meal of the day no later than 6pm. So set your watch and try to keep your first bite and last bite of food no more than 10 hours apart. Ideally, start your eating window earlier in the day, as we don t want to be going to bed with a tummy full of food for many reasons.
6 DETOX YOUR 5 CUPBOARD No, I don t want you to go and suffer through some type of extreme and exotic detox like a green juice detox. As all of us know these extreme diets never work. Instead, I want you to detox your cupboards from all those unhealthy foods like biscuits, chips and soft drink. As removing these temptations will see your waistline reduced in no time. Cornell University found that people who had junk food on the kitchen counter and in the cupboard weighed on average just over 9 kilos more. Studies also found that when people were placed in a messy space they will overeat. Out of sight out of mind really applies here!
