Research Project Summary Principal investigator-dr. Prachi D.Deshpande Mahila Mahavidyalaya,Nandanvan,Nagpur Title-Various Impacts of Financial Development On Women Self Help Group Of East Nagpur (period ) Introduction-After Independence the Indian Constituency section 14 to 35, the approach regarding women was mainly welfare. But after 1970 this approach was change from welfare to Development and after that along with women development Participation of the women was new concept. And the effect of this was that in June 1994, Maharashtra Government directed their first women policy. And after improvement year 2011second policy was declared. Central &State Government organized many policy regarding women development.but expected result was not found in these policies. Hence these created obstacles while achieving women s development. After 1990 the Indian Economy faced LPG policy and outcome of this policy was that Government required to look after the development of BPL people and women. For this purpose Government implemented Swaran Jayanti Shahar Rojgar Yojana in 1997 and
the Swaran Jayanti Gram Swayam Rojgar Yojana (SGSY)in After that 2009 the same policy was reformed and renamed as National Rural Life Mission. Under this program self help group concept was introduced and Government decided to provide the loan to such small self help group for self employment purpose. Under such self help group 40% should be of women is mentioned in this program accordingly opportunity is given to women financial development. Along with this self help group is resolving women s personal, political, social, family, educational &health issues problems. And hence women empowerment is important weapon of women Self Help Group. Under this program in last 15 years East Nagpur has shown change in women s financial conditions under self help group scheme. This has been proved in our research project. Looking to the above issues, we have selected East Nagpur zone from Nagpur district in Maharashtra state, as the area for the research project. Justification -SHG schemes have been started in Asia continent. Noble prize winner Dr. Mahmud Yunus of Bangladesh had started this scheme for rural Banks. The same scheme was initiated in American continent by American past president Mr. Bill Klinton &Mrs. Henry Klinton. In the dacade 1980, the same model was accepted by NABARD in India and they gave appreciable rating to this SHG in the credit and finance market. Because of legal appreciation, the development of scheme was boomed. And hence in India it is called as Mini Sahakar. In the year 1991, the focus was given to Women empowerment. It was observed that the women s development was happening and hence the same topics were taken up for the research projects. And hence we have taken East Nagpur Zone for our research work.
Objectives:- Following objectives were finalized for the study of various impacts of financial development on women self group of East Nagpur for the period ) To examine the financial empowerment of women through self help group. 2) To examine the social status of women through self help group. 3) To study the family status along with the individual income of women through SHG. 4) To examine the family income, standard of living, health, educational status, decision making level. 5) To examine the change in the level of loans and savings made through self help group. 6) To examine the possible impacts of implemented new scheme from year Limitations;- 1) Under this scheme women s financial development through self help group and related internal issues are only considered other external issues is not considered in this study. 2) For Research purpose only beneficiary of SHG and member for the year from is only considered for survey. 3) We have not considered the issues of Bank and financial institutions providing financial assistance to SHG.
4) The beneficiaries and members of SHG only from East Nagpur is only considered for this research. \Methodology;- Primary data collect from the East Nagpur zone, 33 self help groups which is BPL and one is dormant and 250 members in this self help groups. For the examination of these selected samples, following research methodology used ; 1) collect the information regarding the self help groups from East Nagpur 2) Assessed the active self help groups and dormant self help groups through random sampling system & collect the information by way of interview. 3) Take the questionnaire reply from the women of these selected groups. 4) perform the statistical analysis of the information collected through this questionnaire methodology. 5) Find out the conclusion from the change in the women financial development and its effect with the help of statistical analysis. 6) To make the comparative study of women financial development of East Nagpur and rest of other area. Hypothesis & Observations;- 1) Hypothesis The position of self help groups are getting better and it creates the base for the women s empowerment.
Observation From our primary observation, women self help group and its members are increasing. Accordingly as per Government guideline 2009 group of five women is having good result. (chapter- 4,result -1) Result has shown positive change of 96.80% in women personality development. (chapter 4,result -20,21,23) 2) Hypothesis- Involvement in entrepreneurship has been enhanced due to increase in women self help group. Observation As per preliminary survey women of SHG has selected various business. However due to traditional business, selection of new business is having limitations.(chpt. 4, result -3) The result of this increased interest in entrepreneur by women in SHG but there are need to take so many efforts for big push. 3) Hypothesis -Women self help group scheme helps to increase the saving habits in the rural area and low income group families. Observation As per preliminary survey it was observed that 89.2% women of SHG as increased their monthly savings. However 10.80% women is not having saving habit. But however these women is having desire to work and earn money.(chapter-4,result-6) 4) Hypothesis Banks role is vital for implementation of these schemes. Observation Only 22% of women is having idea that their SHG got loan & subsidy from Government. Rest 70 % women was ignorant of this information. This proves that there
was no transparency in financial matter of their SHG. As per information given only 10 thousand Rs. Was given by Government as personal loan which was not sufficient to run the business. Problems of SHG The problems faced by women of SHG is classified as personal, family, social, legal, political, financial, educational. To face this problems successfully and to develop the women empowerment, SHG policy is to reformed by Government. Recommendation & suggestions - For women empowerment our research project gives recommendations and suggestions as per below- 1) proper guidance from officer and their employees 2) Trust between members of SHG. 3) Get maximum financial help and subsidy. 4) Internal politics should be minimum in SHG. 5) Loan amount should be received in minimum duration. 6) Increase of involvement by women in politics. 7) Social approach towards women should be change. 8) Educational facilities for women. 9) Assistance to get market for their business. 10) Availability of loan providing facility.
11) Involvement of all members in SHG. 12) Change in women mentality approach. 13) provide facilities at working place. Conclusion; -From this Research it conclude that Saving to Integrity, Integrity to Power, and power to utilize of the energy means to improve personality development and through personality development success of SHG movement. This is the effective mode for women empowerment.this was also mentioned in resent of Noble prize winner Prof. Mohammad Yunus - Women are like bonsai You take a seed of the tallest tree And plant it in a flower pot to curtail its growth, But if society gives them a larger Base with enough nutrients they will grow like any other tall tree And reach out for the sky Dr. Prachi Deshpande Dr. M.M.
