We have recently updated our website with advanced functionality. Visitors to our site can now effectively interact with our team on all our services and to also register directly via the site for any one of our numerous events held throughout the year. This month we also received international recognition for services provided to one of our visitors suffering from ADHD who has been engaged in therapy with our senior clinical psychologist. Two workshops were conducted by the Kazim Trust team at Aga Khan Hospital for women suffering from cancer and another one at Lady Mariam Adamjee School on Identification of ADHD and Learning Disabilities in a Classroom. We also held a group activity on Emotional Management conducted by our remedial therapist in conjunction with our interns to train children towards expressing their emotions in healthier ways. An article by our senior clinical psychologist was also published by a renowned organization Children and Adults with Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Inc (CHADD) on Empowering Children who Learn Differently in Pakistan.

International Recognition of ADHD Success Story In commemoration of ADHD Awareness Month, we collaborated with the ADHD Awareness Month Committee and participated in the story contest by submitting the case of a 7-year-old suffering from ADHD who is visiting Kazim Trust. The story written by our marketing & outreach officer, Ms. Samira Sadiq narrated the case of a child who is under therapy at Kazim Trust with our senior clinical psychologist Ms. Farah Aftab. It was showcased online on 4th October at this international forum. Click here to read the article Our success story published in Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA)

Workshop at Agha Khan Hospital Our senior clinical psychologist Ms. Farah Aftab was invited to the Aga Khan Hospital to help women suffering from cancer. She was joined by our remedial therapist Ms. Ambreen Ali and marketing & outreach officer Ms. Samira Sadiq and assistance of clinical psychologist Ms. Syeda Batool Najam and held a workshop titled Live Your Life Like Never Before. The workshop focused on guiding cancer patients with behavioral techniques for better management of symptoms such depression and stress. The workshop consisted of a small group, limited to just 12 women and it focused towards practicing different techniques of art therapy and eidetic therapy with body muscle relaxation. Post analysis of the workshop concluded that women experienced a marked improvement and significant positive change in their feelings and emotions. The workshop also helped by making more people aware about Kazim Trust and the range of services that it provides. Our KT team after a successful session with cancer survivors Workshop at Lady Mariam Adamjee School The second advanced series of workshops was conducted at Lady Mariam Adamjee School by the team at Kazim Trust, headed by our clinical psychologist Ms. Syeda Batool Najam on Identification of ADHD and Learning Disabilities in a Classroom. The workshop was conducted with 16 teachers from primary and secondary grades.the teachers learned about how to identify specific symptoms among their children in their daily classroom activities and to develop strategies for better academic performance from these children.

Teachers discussing their personal experiences regarding students with learning disabilities Our KT team along with the teachers of Lady Mariam Adamjee School Social Skills Group A group activity on Emotional Management was conducted by our remedial therapist Ms. Ambreen Fayyaz Ali along with the help of the team of our interns. The primary objective of this session was to train students to express their emotions in a healthier way.

Sixteen children were divided into pairs and were instructed to ask their respective partner their name and to introduce each other in front of everyone. The objective of this activity was to make them engage in a realistic social group setting which is paramount to develop self-confidence and better cognitive functioning. To control their hyperactivity, a physical exercise of JUMP-JUMP, CLAP- CLAP, and TURN RIGHT- TURN LEFT was also included after every activity so that their excess energy could be productively channelized and released. Groups of children were provided with one emoticon and were asked to create a situation where others had to guess the type of emotion being displayed. The theme of this activity was to make them identify emotions qualitatively and to differentiate amongst them as well. Coping strategies such as a blow the balloon activity while feeling angry and deep breathing techniques when feeling overwhelmed, stressed or anxious were also taught. Group activities on 'Emotional Management' Publication at CHADD A very renowned organization, Children and Adults with Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Inc.
