United Way Provides Nearly $654,000 to Help Local Residents The United Way of Bay County Board of Directors met on Thursday, March 26, and approved to allocate over $577,000 to support 36 programs that benefit local youth, people needing assistance with basic needs, and programs that improve the community s health. In all, the Board voted to provide funding to 19 United Way Partner Agencies based upon the recommendations made by six panels of volunteers totaling some 40 members of the community. In addition to their allocation, local agencies and United Way s Community Service Fund will receive $55,151 in designations from individual donors, and United Way s Endowment Fund will receive $2,500 through United Way s fall campaign, which raised $957,000. Of this, $20,317 was designated to other United Way s through the Give Where You Live campaign. The dollars raised are also invested in United Way annual dues and United Way of Bay County volunteer and community service programs such as the back to school clothing drive, and free tax preparation services, both of which provided Bay County with an economic boost in 2014. Finally, for the second year in a row, the DOW Community Advancement Network was awarded $18,750. This allows partner agencies to take part in additional training and utilize resources beneficial to the organization at a free or reduced rate. It is never too late to support the United Way.
