Date: October 27, 2017 To: Friends of the American Parkinson Disease Association Oklahoma Chapter I am writing to you to ask for your help to provide Strength in optimism. Hope in progress for people with Parkinson s disease in the Oklahoma area. Parkinson Disease (PD) is not our grandparents disease any longer. It affects both young and old alike. The youngest known person was diagnosed at 2 years old. PD affects approximately 1 in every 250 people over the age of 40 and around 1 in every 100 people over the age of 65. PD is the second most common incurable neurological disease affecting movement in people over the age of 55. There are more cases of Parkinson s in the US than ALS, MS, and MD combined! An estimated 16,000 of those cases are in Oklahoma. One person is diagnosed every 9 minutes. On Saturday, March 3 rd 2018 at 6:00 p.m., the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Oklahoma Chapter will be hosting our Seventh Annual Pennies for Pearls Music Trivia Night at the Hard Rock Casino! An evening of great food, friends and fun is guaranteed. It will be a wonderful and memorable time for all in attendance. Many organizations, by supporting those with Parkinson s disease are helping to find a cure. Our goal for this event is to provide Strength in optimism. Hope in progress. by helping those struggling with this disease right now. Your donations and support help us to provide support, resources, and referral for services to make life easier for those with this debilitating disease TODAY.
