Malcolm Sargent did not seek re-election and Gail Adie has replaced him. Otherwise all members of the Committee were returned for another year. Our Committee members do an extraordinary job in keeping everything running smoothly. I am so grateful for all the help that I receive. Members who attended the Welcome 2017 dinner thoroughly enjoyed the night and there was much hilarity from certain sections of the room. The photos in the Newsletter are proof. The baby photos at our first Coffee morning were a revelation. Gloria Park did very well in winning the guessing competition. It wasn t easy. Two new computers have been purchased and have arrived over Easter. Thank you to Pam for all her research in choosing suitable models. The cataloguing of the Library is finished and we are still deciding on which new books to purchase. Pam Harrison has garnished new members by giving 3 information sessions on Family History at Inverloch Community Centre. COMMITTEE MEETINGS 3 RD WEDNESDAY 10 May at 1.30pm 19 July at 1.30pm 13 Sept at 1.30pm 8 November at 1.30pm The Easter raffle was won by Wendy Purtle and raised a tidy profit. The program for the second half of the year is included in the Newsletter. Some guest speakers have yet to be confirmed, but we hope that it will all come to fruition. Our very grateful thanks go to all members who volunteer for roster duty, donate needed equipment, attend meetings as representatives and supply kitchen goodies. So many acts of kindness to our organisation help to make everything run smoothly. Anne Bevis President
DEAR ANCESTOR Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone. The name and date are chiselled out on polished, marbled stone. It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn. You did not know that I exist you died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you in flesh, in blood, in bone. Out blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own. Dear Ancestor, the place you filled One hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew That someday I would find this spot, and come to visit you. I d rather look for dead people than have them look for me. Genealogy life in the Fast lane
