Word from PMI Lebanon Chapter Dear valued PMI Lebanon Chapter members and esteemed readers, I am delighted to introduce this first edition of PMI LC newsletter. On behalf of the board, this newsletter was launched to inform you on a quarterly basis with all the chapter news and PMI latest updates. You will find that it is full of valuable information, helpful hints and tips, events and news of our community. Our main objective from this newsletter is to keep our members and community of project managers informed and involved. We look forward to hearing your comments on the first issue since we want the newsletter to be as relevant as possible to your project management needs. We would appreciate if you can share your feedback and suggestions to help us improve. In the future releases, you can participate by writing an article or sharing your project management experience. You can send your submission to any of the board members who will channel it and process it promptly. Finally, I want to thank all of you for your contribution to PMI Lebanon Chapter development and establishment of the community of the project managers on solid basis. Lebanon Chapter Events Designing Your Project Strategy Brick by Brick by Ms. Qabas Shaer The PMI Lebanon Chapter organized a unique Lego Serious Play workshop: Designing Your Project Strategy Brick by Brick. After introducing the workshop model and idea back in November 2017 during the PDD - Professional Development Day, we have invited a certified Lego Serious Play facilitator, Ms. Qabas Shaer, to run a complete workshop focusing on a key challenging topic for all project managers: Defining & Designing a Project Strategy and Approach. The workshop took place on 4th of April, 2018 at The Key ApartHotel Palais de Justice District, Corniche du Fleuve, Beirut, Lebanon. 6

Lebanon Chapter Events The Second Professional Development Day PMI Lebanon Chapter organized its second Professional Development Day. The event took place in June where top notch speakers and authors (Ms. Greta Blash, Mr. Luis Seabra Coelho and Mr. Emad E. Aziz) from overseas where invited to come and share with us their wide knowledge and experience in the areas of Program management, Agile, Business Analysis, Change/transformation management and inspire us grow beyond project management practice! 7

Lebanon Chapter Events PMI Lebanon Chapter IFTAR 2018 Aligned with the its vision and mission, PMI Lebanon Chapter organized an IFTAR event on June 5, 2018 as part of its networking activities welcoming the two newly elected Members of the Parliament MP Dr. Dima Jamali and MP Ziad Hawat (represented by Mr. Tony Sfeir) at Lancaster Plaza Hotel Orabel Ballroom. Profiting from the keynote speakers knowledge and expertise in the field of project management, PMI LC granted PMI members one (1) Professional Development Unit (PDU). The event hosted more than 115 attendees from different backgrounds of business and IT professionals, professors, students, and members of the Lebanese project management community. In a humanitarian gesture from PMI Lebanon chapter and as part of its commitment to social responsibility, PMI LC reached out for Save the Grace to collect the food after Iftar for distribution to needy people. 8

Lebanon Chapter Events Project Management for Social Good Awareness Session at International Education Association: LAU Summer Camp On June 13, and in collaboration with IEA, PMILC delivered an awareness for a group of Dynamic volunteers, working with IEA. The main goal for the hands-on session was to introduce the group to the project management fundamentals, and help them adopt a solid and proven structure of work for their projects of variable size. More sessions to come in the future, focusing on the Agile project management process. As part of the youth outreach, PMILC has collaborated with LAU Summer camp team to prepare series of activities, introducing the basics of project management to the participants, aged between 6 and 14. Over 6 weeks, between July 9 and August 17, participants, grouped by age, applied 6 different activities focusing on: teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, in addition to learning the basic elements of project management: scope, time, cost, quality, and risk. 9

Lebanon Chapter Events PMI LC Board Members Celebrating Father s Day In June 2018, the monthly board meeting took place on June 21. It was a great oppurtunity to celebrate father s day together! PMI LC Board Wishing PMI Poland Chapter Congratulations on their 15th Anniversary In July 2018 and as part of PMI LC interest in supporting other chapters, PMI LC recorded a video wishing PMI Poland Chapter congratulations on its 15th anniversary in a joyful and harmonious way while introducing them to a few Lebanese words. 10

Lebanon Chapter Events Leadership Institute Region 12 Meeting and Tunisia Chapter Annual Conference Three of PMI Lebanon Chapter board members had the oppurtunity to attend the Annual Region 12 Conference in Tunisia hosted by the local chapter on the 21 and 22 of September. The board members acquired new guidelines and updates about PMI transformation. They shared knowledge and obtained relevant training about leadership and volunteering and also had the chance to discover beautiful Tunisia. As part of the collaboration and support between chapters, PMI Lebanon chapter participated in Tunisia Chapter Annual Conference, entitled Project Management in Entrepreneurship Development that took place on September 23. The half day event gathered more than 120 delegates of the Tunisian community, who where assertive to hear from the inspirational speakers more about their real life expertise in project management. 11
