Dates listed are start dates. Register early to avoid disappointment if your class is full or is canceled because too few have signed up. REFUND/ REGISTRATION POLICY Please note the dates and times of classes confirmations are not sent. Register early to ensure placement. Same-day registration is accepted if class is not full or canceled. Class times and course instructors are subject to change. We reserve the right to cancel class if too few are enrolled. Class will be canceled three days prior to class date if too few are enrolled. Full refund if class is canceled by the Health Education Center. 2 UHParma.org UH Parma Medical Center If a student withdraws from a course, a refund less a $5 processing fee per class is given if a verbal or written request is received five business days before start of class. Cancellations received less than five days but before the first day of class will be credited by gift certificate, less a $5 processing fee. No refunds will be given on or after the first class, no exceptions. Decisions to maintain classes are based on the enrollment. Students assume risk of change in personal affairs or health. Refunds are not available for one-session programs or for not attending class. Any refund in the amount of $10 or less will be given as a gift certificate. Acupuncture What Is It? Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world. It is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body, most often by inserting hair-thin needles through the skin. Acupuncture has become recognized as an evidence-based medical system and endorsed by the National Institutes of Health. It is used mainly to relieve discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and conditions, including neck and back pain, headaches, side effects of chemotherapy, emotional imbalances, stress management, respiratory issues, sleep disturbances, women s health and so much more. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. for men and women combined. Information tables will be located in the hospital lobby including the following: UH Digestive Health Institute, UH Seidman Cancer Center and the Colon Cancer Alliance. NEW! Over-the-Counter Medications Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines are drugs you can buy without a prescription. Although these medications are available without a prescription, they are still serious medications. This class is intended to provide education to help ensure the most common OTC medications are used safely and appropriately. Types of medications discussed will include cough, cold, allergy, pain, inflammation, stomach and gastrointestinal medications as well as sleep aids.
