Ongoing and future projects Main research topics Familial Mediterranean fever clinical aspects pathogenesis of autoinflammation Metabolic syndrome and fatty liver developing tools for non-invasive diagnosis of NAFLD and NASH using biomarkers of inflammation, apoptosis, oxidative stress exploring the relationship between gut microflora, intestinal barrier function and liver pathology, particularly fatty liver investigating the effect of drugs on different pathogenetical mechanisms of NAFLD, particularly focusing on the gut-liver axis.
