Inner Wheel Club of Dursley NEWSROUND September 2018 President: Gill Davis It s a long time since June 2012 when I produced my last Newsround, how time flies. You may remember some of the old format but I have realised the font was getting too small as were the photographs as we get older and therefore there won t be so much content but I hope you will be able to read it and recognise yourselves in the photographs Handover took place at Chavenage a favourite venue. Sarah was congratulated on her year as President and presented with a Garden Voucher and Special Memory Card depicting many events during her year.

Dursley Inner Wheel Annual General Meeting (An extract from Shirley Smith s recent report in the Gazette) Our AGM this year was held at Chavenage House near Tetbury on a glorious summer's day. Afternoon tea was served in the historic Ballroom, with the wonderful views through the lovely bow window seen many times in historic dramas, like Poldark. Caroline Lowsley-Williams welcomed us all and gave us a brief update on how Chavenage is still benefiting from the filming of Poldark. There is a fifth series planned and it will be the final series. As many of us are Poldark fans and followers of Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark it was great to imagine it all being played out in such an historic setting. It was then time for tea, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone before the AGM business began in earnest. President Sarah Crumpton presided over the AGM, her final meeting. It has been a good year for Sarah and the Club. She gave us a report of her year, and some of the activities that we had all achieved together and how she had enjoyed every moment and how the year had flown by so quickly. Sarah presented an Honoured Active Membership badge to Pam England, in recognition of her outstanding service for Inner Wheel which the Club members recognise and wish to honour. President Sarah concluded the meeting by handing over the chain of office and the Presidency to Gill Davis. Gill stated that she was truly honoured to be President. She congratulated Sarah on behalf of the membership that with her leadership the Club was able to donate over 3,000 to various charities. Gill's theme for the year is Make the Future Positive and Keep Our Candle Burning which she hopes we will. Finally, the members joined Gill in saying together the Inner Wheel Collect. 3
4. The year started on the 3 rd July at Frampton on Severn Sailing Club for the Annual Open Door BBQ. Marion and Jenny ensured we had sufficient Drinks and ice-cream to supplement the food supplied and cooked by the sailing club members (photographed). Pam and Anita served the hungry guests and my thanks to Dave Allen, John Smith and Roger Davis for their help. It was a beautiful evening and thoroughly enjoyed by all. As with all our events you can see more photographs on our website. It was agreed at our July meeting to send a donation to the Sailing Club to help with the costs of refurbishing the men's disabled toilets. The work completed on the Ladies' Changing Rooms is excellent.
