I am pleased to see the club sections busy in their own activities. As we approach our AGM we wanted to take this opportunity to update you on what has been going on, in and around your Club. There have been some minor cosmetic changes that have taken place during the last few months, but we still have a long way to go to improve the overall quality of our premises. We need to draw on all of our membership to support the future of our club. We continue to battle with our severely poor financial state and we desperately need to find many more ways of generating income, to help counteract the increased costs involved in running our facility. Genny Hill Club Chairman Individual Highlights: Club AGM 1 Club Decoration 2 Maintenance 3 Card Payments 4 Dates for your diaries 5/6 Club AGM Friday 6 th March 2015 The Annual General Meeting is fast approaching, so please add this important date to your diaries. Meeting Notices will be posted very soon. At last year s meeting we attempted to give you a full insight into our financial status and the challenges that we are facing. We are planning to provide an updated set of figures and statistics based on our Year End of September 2014 and would encourage all our members to attend so that we can ensure we give everyone an opportunity to be involved in the future decision making within your Club.

Page 2 of 5 The Presidents Bar With the help of a small number of willing volunteers from our membership, we have managed to address some re-decoration and repair work around the premises. The President s Bar was repainted in September 2014 with the help of Genny Hill (Chairman/Hockey), Craig Hill (Bar Secretary/Hockey), Brian Holding (Vice Chairman/Indoor Bowls), Yamin Li (Hockey), Debbie McLoughlin (Hockey), Andy Reid (Trustee/Hockey) and Tierney Dunn (Hockey). Many thanks also to Jane Reid and Debbie McLoughlin, from the Hockey Section, for taking time to clean and arrange the contents of the Club Trophy Cabinet. The Family Room We are pleased to share news on the development of the communal room at the rear of the premises, which has had a makeover. The initial painting project was carried out by Broomfield Youth Football Club, who kindly added some of their memorabilia to brighten up the room. We have also laid a new carpet, which was acquired, at no cost, from redundant stock from one of our local businesses, courtesy of Andy Reid. We would like to thank the working party, from the hockey section, who gave up their time to lay the tiles (Genny Hill, Craig Hill, Andy Reid, Carl Woodbridge, Alex Whittle and Steve Dean). We have also had donations of a range of additional furniture, including more soft seating, a dining table and chairs, coffee table and bench table. Many thanks to Terry Whitebread, Andrew Dettmar and Julie Alabaster for their kind donations. Fire Exit Doors Having put effort into making a more attractive area for members to relax, we would ask that the double doors in the Family Room are only used in the event of an emergency. If you wish to gain access to the patio area, or beyond, please use the exit on the internal corridor, leaving the double doors in the Family Room closed, at all times. This will greatly help to keep our heating bills to a minimum.

Page 3 of 5 Overflow Car Park We have made some adjustments to the car park beyond the main building. We have laid a few large stones, and put up some temporary orange fencing to try and direct the use of the area. The intention is to encourage drivers to park adjacent to the fencing, in parallel to the fields. Please try to adhere to the new arrangements which will benefit everyone in the long run. We will be putting up some larger signage to fully explain the new layout as it would appear that this is not clear to all but as soon as everyone parks in the same direction there will be more space for everyone. Please bear with us whilst we communicate the changes to one and all. Many thanks to Craig Hill, Genny Hill and Andy Reid for putting in the labour needed to make the adjustments. General Projects We are always looking for volunteers who will be happy to wield a paint brush, hang wallpaper or provide general support. We will be asking members to let us know how they think they can help and will use the audience at the AGM to start the process of compiling a specific list of services where our members can help. We have already had assistance with furniture removal for some more storage and filing cabinets, along with the floor tiles, from the hockey section. Our thanks goes to Craig Hill, Andy Reid, The Read Family (Trevor, Alex and Mitchell) and James Watkins for providing the muscle power. A big thanks too, to Carl Woodbridge (Hockey) and Phil Maule (our groundsman) who have offered their expertise and given up their time to make some running repairs on the club s flat roof. We have made a start but have more extensive work to carry out. Page 3 of 4

Page 4 of 5 Card Payments The Club now has the facility to take bank card payments, either at the bar or in the office. The system, World Pay, accepts all types of credit or debit cards, including Amex, Visa, Mastercard and alike. There is no service charge for this facility, unless the transaction is less than 5.00, whereby a 50p levy will be applied. The Cheshunt Club Website Our Club website has been reviewed and can provide a range of information relating to all club matter. This can be found at: www.thecheshuntclub.co.uk. If you have any information that you would like to share with either our members or the general public, please let us know. We are always keen to gather any news items relating to club issues, particularly sporting achievements, so if you have some news to share please let us know. Please send your contributions to admin@thecheshuntclub.co.uk. Charity Events We have arranged a number of social events for 2015, details of which are listed below. Don t forget, if you are interested in holding your own social event at the club, please speak to Sue, in the office, or Kevin, at the bar, for details of availability. If you want to hold a Charitable Event liaise directly with Sue who will be able to discuss any special arrangements that we can make to support your charity.
