Purr-fect night out The generosity of the team at Winter Gardens in partnership with Lucy Williams from TAKE 1 Performing Arts meant that members of our drama groups were able to see the acclaimed production of Cats. Ormerod's drama groups take great pride and responsibility in their productions and the members' passion for drama and musicals meant that when Lucy and the Winter Gardens contacted us about the opportunity to see the production the members were all very keen to attend. The show was fantastic with everybody having thoroughly enjoyed the performance and it was made even more special by the fact that that we were sat only a few seats away from the show's Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Ormerod would like to thank the Winter Gardens and TAKE 1 Performing Arts for making this opportunity available to members of the local community with disabilities and also thank our staff who provided support to people so they could attend.
Marine Park Bowling Club The Marine Park Bowling Club ran their annual fund raising event for Ormerod from 27th July to 1st August with the Cheerful Swallows Tournament. Ormerod were represented on Finals Day by Paul Annear, supported by Pauline Gordon and Paul received a cheque of 650 on behalf of Ormerod. We were even treated to afternoon tea inside the bowling club before the final took place. Many thanks to everyone who took part in the tournament and to everyone at The Marine Park Bowling Club who have been long standing friends and supporters of Ormerod for many years. Paul Annear receives the cheque on behalf of Ormerod from The Mayor of Fylde, Peter Hardy.
Peter Brooks Trophy Ansdell Fylde Tennis Club held the Peter Brooks Trophy in October. Bruce Garner kindly restarted this tournament which used to be an annual event held to raise funds for Ormerod. The winner of the male tournament was James Sawer and the female winner was Beth Marshall. Congratulations to both on their victory in a field of 60 contestants! News article on the Tournament from The Lytham St Annes Express We re already looking forward to next year s tournament which we are hoping to host earlier in the year. Sincere thanks from everyone at Ormerod to Bruce and members of the Ansdell Fylde Tennis Club for taking the time to organise and run the fundraising day.
New website launched The new Ormerod website launched on 20th October with the aim being to give a more user friendly, modern, visually appealing, and refreshing feel that is more reflective of the support that we provide. We haven t used developers or designers on this to save costs but developed it in house so if you do spot any errors please feel free to let us know! As part of our new website we ve also created an area to host a range of person centred tools as this needed a new home after funding for My Life My Support was cut. We hope you like the new layout, updated information and extra pictures. Staff can now find the and policy link picture in the middle of the bottom of the website.
Graham s Green Fingers Graham wrote to Ormerod to tell us about the garden that he shares with two of his friends. Graham told us: It's took a long time to get it like this. I had support from my staff. I enjoy gardening and I work at the Plant Place on a Monday. I like weeding and planting new flowers and fruit and vegetable plants. Graham has not only applied his skills to revive his garden but he has now taken those garden skills and used them to secure a job at his local garden centre. Before... After...
Garden Party The annual Ormerod summer garden party took place over summer and as usual there were a number of stalls where people we support were able to sell a wide range of items. Items for sale included flower pot men, keyrings, clothes, soft toys, furniture, jam, garden decorations, ornaments, DVD s, and Chutney. There were a broad range of stalls run by people we support. Entertainment during the party was provided by Bright Souls Choir and the drama groups. Unlike the infamous summer downpour of 2014 this year s garden party was bathed in sunshine. This meant that visitors were able to see the gardens at Ormerod at their best; which is a compliment to the hard work and skills of both staff and service users in the Gardening Groups. The Choir entertained visitors to our annual garden party
Quality Update We received a wide range of feedback from people we support, staff, families, and commissioners on our quality plan and are currently compiling this for publication. The structure of our upcoming quality plan is designed to use information and tools from a number of quality sources. These include Driving Up Quality, Making it Real: Think Local Act Personal, Lancashire Values, Health Charter for Social Care Providers, and the Health Equalities Framework. We have now completed the first round of data entry for the Health Equalities Framework and are now working on the next phase of data entry to give us a really good perspective on the health needs of people we support and where we may need to target training and resources in the future.
