Carry advisory load of BSSW students. Meet with prospective students and their parents, meet with both internal and external transfer students, develop unofficial educational plans, and determine how many credits and courses will be transferred in, be available for all undergraduate FALK College and School of Social work receptions and student. Resolve student problems/concerns, coordinating with the Office of Field Instruction regarding student issues in field, work with FALK Student Services on student suspensions, readmissions and probation. Work closely with the FALK College Recorder, review check sheets, transfer summaries, and degree audits to ensure consistency with our program requirements, and respond to requests for transfer credit information from prospective students year round. Coordinate with University College, meeting with prospective part-time transfer students and provide input to UC students about their admissibility to the School of Social Work, meet with UC advisors once a year to update them on any curriculum /program changes, coordinate spring advising holds, plan the UC SWK course sequencing. Plan and Implement the NYC Social Work trip. Requires working for two semesters, with graduate assistant, to plan, make reservations, coordinate on the budget with Dean s Office, select faculty chaperones, select and meet with students, wrap after trip, mark student reflection papers, and send out thank you letters. Serve on committees: BSSW Advance Standing Admissions Committee, BSSW Curriculum Committee, MSW Curriculum Committee, School of Social Work Administrative Team, Falk College Scholars Selection Committee and Falk College Student Service Suspension Committee. Coordinate, advertise, advise, and monitor the Social Welfare Minor and the All University Gerontology minor. Teach HSH 101 Gateway course in the Fall Semester, SWK 301: Foundations of Social Work Practice (2 sections) in the Fall Semester, and SWK 115 Introduction to Social Work course in the spring semester. Respond to a variety of queries from the Director s Office for information needed. Write letters of recommendation for graduate school and for student awards and honors. Update publications/written materials: Student Handbook, program check sheet, BSSW requirements, printed admission materials, and various community college articulation agreements. Be present on Opening Weekend, working closely with the FALK College Student Services and peer advisors assisting incoming students and their parents. Attend the BPD Conference for training and continuing education in my role as Director. Sit on community advisory boards August 2003 to June 2012: Syracuse University School of Social Work (full time position) Assistant Director of Field Instruction/Placement Coordinator Responsible for the management of 1 st and 2 nd year MSW field placements (SWK 671/672). Work with the Office of Field Instruction team to resolve problems with MSW foundation and concentration field placements. Carry a field liaison load of approximately 50 first and second year MSW students. Assist the Director of Field Instruction with preparation of field placement materials, plan and conduct field instructor workshops or orientations for students in field placement. Coordinator and advisor the All University Gerontology Minor under Dr. Carrie Jefferson Smith. Carry an advising load of BSSW undergraduate students. Sit on the Undergraduate BSSW Program Committee. Teach SWK 115, Introduction to Social Work, in the fall semester. Assist with proposals to support students, especially those with an agency or field component. Research new field placement sites offering unique and/or funded field opportunities. Assist with the transition from paper field placement records to electronic field placement records. August 1997 to May 2003: Syracuse University School of Social Work Baccalaureate Field Coordinator (part time position/20 hours per week/academic Year) Responsible for the coordination of the undergraduate field experience required of all seniors in the School of Social Work.
