Mountain View Middle School Physical Education Department Welcome to MVMS Fitness! Your child will have fitness for the entire school year. In order to make this year as successful as possible for your child, there are some expectations you should know about. Clothing 6 th grade students will not have to dress out for PE but should wear comfortable athletic clothing (shorts, T shirt, sweatshirt) for movement and must wear non marking athletic shoes with laces. 7 th and 8 th grade students will dress out for PE daily. Students must wear comfortable athletic clothing (shorts, T shirt, sweatshirt) for movement and must wear non marking athletic shoes with laces. Physical education clothes must be separate from school clothes. Clothes should be taken home once a week at minimum for laundering. Friday is a good day to take clothes home for washing. Attendance Physical education is performance based. Therefore, attendance is priority. In order to assure the highest grade possible, absences should be made up. There are a number of ways to make up an absence: 1) Before school 2) After school 3) Signed activity form Make ups are arranged by appointment. Grading Criteria Participation= 70% Performance Tests = 20% Written Assessments/Student Reflections =10% Grades will be entered on a bi weekly basis. Check Skyward for updates. Class Expectations Wear shorts with elastic waistbands (no boxer shorts) T shirts must be school appropriate. Language must be school appropriate Shoes must be non marking with laces Jewelry must be removed Remain in the gym until the dismissal bell rings Use the bathroom before and after class. During class time, the locker room will remain locked Students will be dressed and ready to begin warm up activities 5 minutes after the tardy bell rings We are excited to begin another year and help your child achieve his/her potential in fitness!
