Workshops: Title 1 Citizen Journalism 2 Compassion in Leadership 3 Communications for Leaders 4 Global Leadership 5 Women in Leadership 6 Environmental Leadership 7 Mindfulness and Successful Leadership 8 Running an Effective Campaign Description Yasir Mirza is the former Head of Diversity and Inclusion at the Guardian. He has devised and run citizen reporting and journalism training programmes with marginalised communities across the world. In this exclusive workshop he will cover topics including the news lifecycle, the difference between news, opinion and feature stories, and digital and citizen journalism. In this interactive session, Michael will look at some of the specific challenges for expert leaders around emotional intelligence. He will examine some of the critical components for developing engagement in organisations. Michael will then go on to examine compassion at the individual and organisational levels, sharing research from Roffey Park on what leaders and organisations need to do to deepen their compassion in service of better workplaces and better results. This session will offer an introduction to the key elements of strategic communications. It is designed to allow participants to apply their new knowledge in the workplace, be it in the public, private or voluntary sectors. Strategic communications goes beyond public relations, marketing, and campaigns. It s actually about what happens in our hearts and minds, what happens across our society s diverse groups, in power circles, and in many other spheres. Abhas, an electrical engineer by training, is a seasoned strategy consultant and a passionate social entrepreneur. He was selected as a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum and together with his fellow Global Shaper, Rocco Falconer will be delivering a master class on what it means to be a Global Leader and how to leverage networks and platforms through real life examples. Join us for this inspiring panel which showcases 4 powerful leadership stories from a range of women across a variety of sectors. Our 4 panellists include: Shabana Mahmood - MP for Birmingham Ladywood, Dorothy Wilson MBE - Chief Executive and Artistic Director, mac Birmingham, Shaista Aziz - Senior Media Manager for Medicins Sans Frontiers and Helga Henry - Director of Organisational Development at Birmingham Hippodrome. Speakers include Chris Crean, Friends of the Earth, Lotifa Begum, Uprising Alumni and Global Campaigns Coordinator at Islamic Relief Worldwide, Daniel Price founder of Pole to Paris and Emma Howard, Greenpeace and UpRising Alumni. Saeed is the Director and Chief Health Consultant at SO Health. During this workshop, Saeed promises that we will stare into space, challenge ourselves to listen to our selves, be our own motivational coach, dare to laugh, and move more whilst learning how to be stronger in healthiness, mindfulness and resilience as we continue our development in leadership, our growth and evolutionary journey to our complete self. I look forward to meeting you all. Ali Tamlit was one of the Heathrow 13, a group of activists from Plane Stupid who occupied a runway at Heathrow in 2015 in order to raise awareness and protest the continued building of runways at Heathrow. Join Ali s workshop where you will learn first hand how to run a successful campaign both on and offline from someone who s been there and bought the T-Shirt too!
