Mass Screening Blood Pressure Blood Pressure Numbers Blood pressure is a measure of how hard the blood pushes against the walls of your arteries as it moves through your body Normal blood pressure is 120/80 High blood pressure is 140/90 or higher 266 participants with blood pressure test 72 participants or 27% had high blood pressure (140/90) High blood pressure can damage the heart, brain, kidneys, or eyes. This damage causes problems like coronary artery disease, stroke, and kidney failure. 4
Mass Screening - Cholesterol Blood Cholesterol Abnormal Results 259 Participants High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) Good Cholesterol 55participants (21%) had HDL under 40 mg/dl Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) Bad Cholesterol 42 participants (16%) had LDL over 130 mg/dl Triglycerides 47 participants (18%) had triglycerides over 150 mg/dl Total Cholesterol 389 participants (34%) had total cholesterol over 200 mg/dl Glucose 10 participants (4%) had glucose of 100 mg/dl *High Cholesterol is 240 mg/dl and above *Borderline High Cholesterol is 200-239 mg/dl *Normal is less than 200 mg/dl *Based on 2011 Vitality Group cholesterol measures 5

Phase 4 Individual Changes in IHPs Participants who have completed phase 4 have: 70 participants lost 10 lbs or more, with a total loss of 1,237 lbs. 22 participants improved their body composition by 5 points or more. 120 participants modified their waist measurement by 2 inches or more. 63 participants moved their blood pressure from hypertension to 140/90. 73 participants decreased their total cholesterol by 40 points or more. 17
Rural IHPs Rural IHPs were done telephonically from February 2011 through June 2011 Demographics were only tracked for the rural IHPs 16 participants from rural locations around the state participated in the program 15 were female and 1 was male Bethel 6 participants; Kodiak 3 participants; Kenai 3 participants; Other 4 participants (Homer, Ketchikan, & Delta Junction) 18
