New Year 2018 Hot Opportunities If you would like to try something new and start volunteering, here are just a few of the current volunteering opportunities available in Derry City and Strabane District Council Area Locally focused Caring Supportive Professional over 30 years Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin is one of city's foremost arts and cultural organisations and is running their annual music festival, IMBOLC International Music Festival from 28th January to 4th February 2018. They are looking enthusiastic volunteers from all walks of life and all age groups to ensure the 2018 festival is as successful as last year's. Do you have experience in front of house, box office, social media, light/sound or any other relevant area and would like to join an enthusiastic and friendly festival team? Volunteers enjoy many benefits including free entry to festival events and other regular music events! Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke -Volunteer drivers Main Purpose: To transport individuals to local Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke (NICHS) services. Where required? Sion Mills/Magilligan/Limavady/Strabane/L Derry NICHS service groups meet on different days/times in varies venues Little so we Horrors will try to match driver up to group according to availability. What time is needed? Varies for each service but usually 2-3 hours per week

This service is vital to a large number of older people who for various reasons can no longer leave their own homes. As well as providing a meal our volunteers help alleviate isolation and loneliness and provide a much needed daily contact with older people. We urgently require a number of drivers and helpers to deliver our services. We provide a vehicle for this service. Drivers must be between 25 and 70 for insurance purposes. Helpers can be any age. If you have two hours per week spare we would be delighted to hear from you. Strabane Community Project are opening a social supermarket and community café in early 2018 and are looking to build a dedicated team of volunteers. Lots of opportunities to suit your interests and skills we d love to hear from you!!.

ChildLine Foyle need Volunteer Counsellors to help listen to the vulnerable children and young people who contact them. Unfortunately they still can't speak to every child who gets in touch but maybe YOU could help? All they need is someone like you who has the time to listen. Just one four hour shift per week can help so many children and young people. Also roles for switchboard operators and online support. Volunteers needed across the area in Allotment Volunteers and support volunteers are needed to support Inspire Mental Health & Learning Disability services Barnardos charity shops The Jigsaw Project supports children & young people with autism and their families and carers. With a wide range of activities on offer, the Jigsaw Project is looking to add to its team of support volunteers. Could you spare a few hours per week and get involved? Easilink require Drivers for their Volunteer Car Scheme across Derry/L Derry, Strabane & Omagh Full training provided and expenses paid 45p per mile

Café Support Volunteers When: Alternative Tuesdays. Verbal Arts Centre Derry/Londonderry 1-3pm or Ballykelly 11am-1pm. You will provide support to the Group Leader helping to set up the room, recording attendees, talking to people with dementia or carers of people with dementia, preparing and distributing refreshments and encouraging group participation. Pennyburn Playgroup are looking for volunteers (age 18 +) to help with trips and day to day (Monday to Fridays). Parent & Toddler group meets Wednesday mornings. Make 2018 the year you make a difference to someone s life by becoming a Foyle Hospice Volunteer. Looking for help in charity shops, fundraising, gardens, In-Patient Unit and Day Hospice. If you have a few hours to spare and you would like to know more please contact the centre.
