There were activity packs with different levels of difficulty Riverview creates items for individual clients as well as groups depending on their interests and needs care workers and staff sometimes donate items to the library Group idea: it would be good to set up a resource library in the southern region for all organisations to be part of/share. It could be a future project for this group. we could apply for a grant as a joint venture or partnership Possibly set it up in a main stream library or have a travelling resource library obtain statistics for incidence of dementia in the southern region to support application for grant carers resource corner possible name for the project would give family carers some inspiration/ideas for activities to do with their loved ones Possibly speak with the Community Development team at City of Onkaparinga Sally could do some research and write a discussion paper to support the project Would possibly require training for library staff and community volunteers Possibly have the project link in with schools as part of their curriculum inter-generational Sally to write up plan Chris to send grant information to Sally Sally to talk with the Community Development team The workgroup were shown the library and the many resources available. Liz was thanked for sharing her ideas and resources. Dementia Link Worker report The new dementia link worker is working from the central region of Adelaide for 0.6 hours per week The new western dementia link worker is on board with referrals N:\Community Programs\SSRG\Workgroups 2013\Dementia\Minutes\dementia meeting 5 march 2013.docx - 2 -

coming in fast Coral is continuing to be very busy and is receiving more referrals from people aged under 65 years - challenging to find appropriate services a lot of clients have other health issues as well as dementia Project Officer report Health and Community Informed Choices Project report Louise is at another meeting today so Sally showed pictures of what the app is going to look like will be available for ipad and iphone there are three sections to the app - definitions, directory and fact sheets will hopefully be live in April/May marketing of the app to the health sector, TAFE and community services a suggestion was made to promote it on the Peter Goers radio show Carer Issues Workgroup carer launch two hats...too hard was held Monday 25 February the resource can be downloaded from the SSRG website copies of the DVD are available to anyone if interested the launch included the handover of the resource to the carer organisations Carers SA and Carer Support Health Population Survey The dementia group were first to fill in the population health survey - Sally found the results interesting and continued surveying all workgroups members viewed the results the results showed a wide variation of views for each of the questions Younger Onset Dementia Training both training sessions are full session details are Thursday 14 March, 2.00-4.00pm at City of Marion Friday 5 April, 2.00-4.00pm at City of Onkaparinga N:\Community Programs\SSRG\Workgroups 2013\Dementia\Minutes\dementia meeting 5 march 2013.docx - 3 -

Information round Meredith Carer Support invitations given out - Agency Coffee Morning Friday 15 March 10am 12 noon welcome to pop in at any time not just for the opening event Lisa City of Holdfast Bay is extrememly busy with HACC audit coming up interesting as it is their first audit under the new commonwealth auditing system Krystyna City of Mitcham nothing new happening very busy - looking after transport clients that are requiring more help and making referrals to appropriate services A2HC are sending referrals on but they are discovering that it is not always what the client actually wants Discussion A2HC are coming to talk to the In Home Services Workgroup meeting on 27 March, 2.30 4.30pm at ACH, Christie Downs all welcome to attend tenders have been sent out for the new Aged Care Gateway it will be a call centre type of structure Terry City of Onkaparinga has some hours available for respite in the Onkaparinga region vacancies in the snooker group Liz ACH Riverview thanked the group for inviting her and being able to show the resources and activities that are being used at Riverview dicussion about clients who have younger onset dementia (under 65 years) Liz is hoping to use Mondays as a designated younger onset dementia day Bridget - ACH always recruiting for the choir group which is held on a Wednesday as the choir now receives funding the management of it will be Sally to confirm with A2HC and inform the group of final details N:\Community Programs\SSRG\Workgroups 2013\Dementia\Minutes\dementia meeting 5 march 2013.docx - 4 -

moving over to Jan Ifould - the Social Links Program vacancies in Out and About group on Tuesdays the Sheds are both full vacancy in Coffee group revamp on men s shed at McLaren Vale making it more into a men s coffee and activity group Sharron - ACH vacancy in working carers program reviewing services within the working carers program - looking at doing their own packages HACC Outer South has plenty of vacancies NRCP has vacancies McLaren Friends, Aldinga and McLaren Vale Club have vacancies handed out a flyer for The Foundation Room a service that aims to support couples to remain at home together, by providing opportunities for one or both parties to receive purpose-designed care Chris - ECH full most days some vacancies on Fridays and Mondays Sally Sally gave out a brochure for the Out and About Club at Reynella on behalf of Jacinta at Lifecare Sally and Coral are scheduled to meet with Marie Alford and Lorrie Beattie about training options re Montessori principles and dementia champions Next meeting date: 2 April 2013 Time: 1.00-3.00 pm Venue: Meeting Room 2, City of Onkaparinga N:\Community Programs\SSRG\Workgroups 2013\Dementia\Minutes\dementia meeting 5 march 2013.docx - 5 -
