We have some of the best survival rates in the country, far exceeding national benchmarks. Median Postoperative Length of Stay by Procedure Jan 2012 - Dec 2015 Getting Kids Home Faster Primary Children s dramatically outperforms benchmarks for getting kids out of the hospital sooner, while providing excellent care. This puts less stress on the family, improves the quality of care, and lowers costs.
OUTCOMES Comparing Our Heart Program with Other Children s Hospitals We participate in the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC 4 ). This collaboration works to improve the quality of care and outcomes for congenital heart disease. Overview of Heart Care Clinic Visits With more than 12,000 appointments each year, our physicians have the experience to identify and manage all types of heart conditions. Outpatient Clinic Visits - By Year Clinics Clinics are held at the main hospital campus & locations throughout Utah, Idaho, Wyoming & Alaska Echocardiograms - By Year Echocardiogram An echo is a non-invasive ultrasound image of the heart including its chambers, walls, vessels and valves. Echos are the primary tool used to diagnose heart defects. Cardiac MRI & CT Scans - By Year MRI/CT Scans Only 2% of patients require more advanced imaging to get higher resolution images of the heart. Our team has the experience and training with children to get the best images to answer complex questions.
VOLUMES Cath Lab Procedures - By Year What is Cardiac Catheterization? This procedure is done to gather information about the heart and blood vessels and can even treat certain types of heart conditions, such as: closing small holes, repairing leaky or narrow valves, and opening or closing blood vessels. Electrophysiology Procedures - By Year Remote Monitoring 3 board-certified EP physicians provide comprehensive arrhythmia treatment. This includes procedures involving placing a pacemaker, defibrillator, or removing abnormal pathways in the heart that cause tachycardia. Cardiothoracic Surgery Cases - By Year Heart Surgery 3 board-certified pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons perform heart surgeries ranging from simple to complex, with outcomes that meet and exceed other top pediatric heart centers in the country.
