LSVT GLOBAL announces the first ever BIG for LIFE Training Course in Dallas, TX for LSVT BIG Certified PT and OT professionals! This course provides LSVT BIG Certified Clinicians (PTs/PTAs and OTs/COTAs) currently certified in LSVT BIG with the tools and knowledge needed to successfully start and run BIG for LIFE group exercise classes in their communities for patients who have already received LSVT BIG treatment. What is BIG for LIFE? BIG for LIFE is a new community-based fitness program developed so that patients who have completed LSVT BIG treatment can practice their exercises and BIG movements not just at home by themselves, but also in a group setting with others like them. BIG for LIFE exercise classes are intended to be fun, challenging, engaging and will provide patients with additional opportunities for social interaction while they exercise! Already running a class similar to this for LSVT BIG Graduates? During this training, participants will learn additional ways to teach and creatively add challenge and variety to current classes. Steps to become a BIG for LIFE provider: 1. Be an active LSVT BIG Certified Clinician (i.e., renewal up-to-date)* 2. Register for the BIG for LIFE Training Course. 3. Attend the entire BIG for LIFE 3-hour Training Course. 4. Complete an exam with an 80% sore required. The exam will be administered during the training course. If a participant does not pass the examination, there will be an opportunity for participants to re-take the exam online. Enter the main gate off of Abrams Rd. Follow the signs to the Fowler Community Center. BIG for LIFE Training Provides: A three-hour live BIG for LIFE training course with printed materials. BIG for LIFE designation upon completion of course and passing exam. Listing as a BIG for LIFE provider on the LSVT Global Certified Clinician Database when it becomes available (anticipated date is December, 2016).

Learning Outcomes: Upon conclusion of this course, participants (Physical and Occupational Therapy Professionals Previously Certified in LSVT BIG) will be able to: Describe BIG for LIFE and who it is intended for. Identify the scientific rationale for BIG for LIFE classes. Discuss the LSVT BIG optimal wellness model in management of PD by therapists. Identify at least three barriers to exercise in Parkinson disease. Discuss the rationale for daily LSVT BIG exercise practice in addition to the need for general daily exercise when it comes to optimal symptom management in PD. Correctly demonstrate the LSVT Maximal Daily Exercises. Describe how to adapt or progress LSVT BIG Maximal Daily Exercises in a group setting for safety and adequate challenge for patients with various levels of functioning. Design BIG for LIFE class plans including functional tasks, BIG walking and LSVT BIG exercises that is safe, functional and engaging. LSVT Certification: The LSVT trademark and other logos appearing within LSVT s website and on LSVT's literature are registered and unregistered trademarks of LSVT Global, Inc. LSVT Trademark Use: Only individuals directly certified by LSVT Global, Inc. and who have attended an LSVT Training and Certification Workshop with specific training in the LSVT modalities of treatment for individuals with speech or movement disorders related to Parkinson disease and other neurological disorders or conditions are entitled to use the LSVT trademarks. An individual who has attended a Workshop and received a certificate of LSVT training will be able to use the LSVT trademark to refer to themselves as an LSVT trained clinician and a BIG for LIFE provider. Any non-sanctioned use is strictly prohibited. CONTINUING EDUATION INFORMATION This program qualifies for 3 contact hours. At this time LSVT Global has sought continuing education approval from the TX Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for the BIG for LIFE Training Course. LSVT Global, Inc. is an AOTA Approved Provider of continuing education. AOTA does not endorse specific course content, products, or clinical procedures. 0.3 AOTA CEU s has been awarded for this course. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, product, or clinical procedures by AOTA. We also provide you with all of the necessary paperwork to submit on your own (faculty biographies, learning outcomes, agenda and certificate). This course is offered for 0.3 CEUs (Advanced level; Occupational Therapy Process). *This activity does not count towards or replace the requirement to complete the LSVT BIG Certification Renewal course.

COURSE SCHEDULE Participation at the entire course is MANDATORY. Participants who arrive late or miss any portion of the workshop will NOT be eligible for CEU credit, listing as a BIG for LIFE provider, or a refund of any costs incurred. Saturday, November 12, 2016 12:00 pm REGISTRATION opens 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm Introduction Definition of and Rationale for BIG for LIFE 1:15 pm to 2:30 pm BIG for LIFE Methods: We will provide a description and practice elements of a BIG for LIFE group class. Adaptations and progressions of exercises and functional tasks will be reviewed as it pertains to a group setting. Videos examples from real-world BIG for LIFE classes will be shown. 2:30 pm to 3:15 pm BIG for LIFE Logistics: Practical considerations for starting a BIG for LIFE group will be discussed including group size, setting, functional level of participants, marketing and recommended forms and/or legal considerations. 3:15 pm to 3:30 pm BIG for LIFE Exam: 80% pass required BIG for LIFE TRAINING FACULTY The LSVT BIG faculty collectively have over 200 years of experience as physical or occupational therapists, personally treated over 2,000 people with PD or other neural disorders using LSVT BIG, and trained over 10,000 physical and occupational therapists in 38 countries. Laura Gusé, MPT, MSCS Ms. Gusé received her Master s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota. Ms. Gusé has worked extensively in the area of neurogenic disorders since then, both in outpatient and inpatient settings. She has specialized in treatment of Parkinson disease and Multiple Sclerosis. She has been certified in LSVT BIG since 2009, and is a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Specialist. She is an LSVT BIG faculty member and Expert Clinician, and has helped to develop many of the current LSVT BIG treatment tools, webinars and curriculum. She now serves as the Chief Clinical Officer of LSVT BIG for LSVT Global. Jenny Tuccitto, MPT, GCS Ms. Tuccitto received her Master s degree in Physical Therapy from the College of St Catherine in Minneapolis, MN in 2001. As a physical therapist she treats a wide variety of clients with neurological and/or orthopedic diagnoses at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, part of Allina health in Minnesota. She serves as the facility lead for treatment of clients with Parkinson disease. Ms. Tuccitto is an LSVT BIG Faculty member & Expert Clinician, and has assisted with development of many LSVT BIG treatment tools including the LSVT BIG Homework Helper DVD. She has presented for the National Parkinson Foundation, the Minnesota Physical Therapy Association and at the American Speech and Hearing Association on LSVT BIG as well as being actively involved with local Parkinson support groups.
