Roosevelt Area Subdivisions Roosevelt Area Civic League Newsletter MARCH 2016 Civic League Meeting Tuesday March 15 7:00 pm Introduction to Primeplus Lynne Berg, speaker CIVIC LEAGUE BUILDING IS LOCATED AT 8440 MONA AVE Primeplus is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults in South Hampton Roads. We support seniors intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs and have been the pre-eminent provider of services, activities, and information addressing the needs and interests of older adults in South Hampton Roads since 1968. We offer Active Adult Programs, Adult Day Services, Geriatric Case Management and Nutrition and Transportation assistance.

PAGE 2 From the Officers and Board of Directors We would to thank those of you who paid your 2016 membership dues. We appreciate your support and will continue to keep you up-to-date regarding the community happenings in our city. Lots of things are going on at Tarrallton Park as the weather gets warmer. Softball and baseball are gearing up and we have noticed some folks with drones doing some training in the late afternoon. We are having a Board of Directors meeting to discuss a few items which we will bring to the membership at our meeting Tuesday, March 15. Our guest speaker this month is Lynne Berg who will discuss Primeplus activities. May will be the end of our civic league year and all officer positions will be up for election. If you feel a desire to get more involved with your community, please get in touch with our Nominating Committee chairperson Guy Flibotte at 588-3186. We look forward to seeing you Tuesday night! Little Creek National PONY Baseball/Softball April 9 Opening Day with team introductions starting at 10 am. If anyone is still interested in signing up, please call the office at 757 583-9417 and leave a message. Your call will be returned. We are in need of softball players, so if your child feels the urge to play, please give us a call! Anjelica Hadsell Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. March 25 Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt starting at 7 pm. There will be carnival games for the kids and a bake sale. Come out to the Tarrallton Rec Center and enjoy the evening!! April 2 & 3 Annual Fly High Frenzy Softball Tournament. Registration is going on now. City Hall Avenue and is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm to all private citizens. Cleaning out your medicine cabinets will save space and may save a life! Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental poisoning and rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high over half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, or from the home medicine cabinet. Disposal is free and anonymous.
