Polaris Deformity System Trivium Derotation System A Three Dimensional Approach to Deformity Correction The Polaris Deformity System in combination with the Trivium Derotation System incorporates Enbloc vertebral body derotation as an innovative posterior spinal deformity correction technique. The system utilizes the power of pedicle screw fixation and enables surgeons to correct most spinal deformities in three dimensions.
Polaris Deformity System The Polaris Deformity System offers surgeons optimum corrective tools and techniques to achieve the desired spinal balance and function. The complete system is available in stainless steel and titanium. Cobalt chrome alloy rods are also available (5.5mm diameter) to be used with titanium implants only. The System includes a variety of implant options and user friendly instrumentation to ease challenging surgical cases for 5.5mm diameter and 6.35mm diameter systems. Helical Flange Locking Technology is the design of the plug and screw seat interface. It provides secure fixation with an enhanced closure mechanism that minimizes seat splay and cross threading. Rod Reduction Options Rod Persuader Provides a powerful means to push the rod into the tulip. Squeeze the handle of the persuader until the rod is seated. The plug driver will fit within the cannulated portion of the persuader and facilitate plug application. Rod Manipulator Allows the surgeon to move the rod mediallateral of cephalad-caudal. It completely grabs the rod so there is minimal worry about the instrument slipping. Rod Rocker Attach the rocker to the site holes of either the top or bottom and cantilever or tilt the ruler down to persuade the rod into the tulip. Once the rod is seated, plug application can be executed. The encompassing rod pusher is designed to fit around the tulip to avoid potentially slipping into the dura or other sensitive anatomy. The distal tulip has slots so it is easy to see the rod being pushed completely into the tulip and the plug being inserted.
Trivium Derotation System The Trivium Derotation System incorporates an innovative posterior three-dimensional spinal deformity correction technique that utilizes the power of pedical screw fixation. The technique gives the surgeon the power to correct most spinal deformities in three dimensions. Attention to the design of the system is focused on maximizing the ease of use by following a stepwise, non-regressive technique to minimize fiddle and optimize efficiency. Direct Vertebral Column Manipulation Technique Step 1: Fixed screws are placed in clusters of 5-8 along the apices of the lumbar and thoracic curves. Step 2: Apply Trivium Derotation System instrumentation by attaching derotation levers, handle linkage rods, and combs. Derotation levers are attached to the fixed screws in the apical clusters. Derotation Helical Flange Plug The Trivium Helical Flange plug minimizes rod rotation upon torquing. Handle linkage rods are attached thru the handle of each cluster. Attach the comb to connect the lumbar and thoracic curve clusters respectively.
Step 3: Slowly derotate the spine by manipulating the clusters. Step 4: 3-Dimensional scoliosis correction is now complete. Cluster Alignment Rod Horizontalizer Slight over correction of the lumbar spine may be necessary to resist elasticity of the system. The spine is now corrected. Horizontalizer is placed in between derotators handles to angle the vertebral body.
