Notes from The business meeting Pres. Chester started the reporting with an update on the Poverty Reduction Initiative. There is an indication of desired long term support from the Saint Lucia Associations in Atlanta and Toronto where the proceed from a golf tournament are already earmarked for our project. The club is currently awaiting confirmation for the designated site on Victoria Street already provisionally approved. A M. O. U. is currently being prepared by the various Ministries involved and the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia PP Malcolm was invited to the podium to expand on Pres. Chester s remarks on the project. Dir. Konrad Wagner, Service Projects In addition to Pres. Chester s earlier comments he confirmed that the Easter Lunch for the less fortunate amongst us was very successful and well attended by members. The Micoud Library Project is nearing completion. The shelving is almost completed together with the additional aluminum cladding and the 2. pest control treatment. Also the planning committee meetings on the Aux Leon Wetlands Project continue. The district deadline for submission is July/August. On Pres. Chester s request he talked briefly about TRF and EREY. A proper presentation is scheduled for another meeting. Dir. Selma St. Prix, New Generations Interact SJC has elected the new board. They have scheduled a buy and luck event as a fundraiser. The proceeds will be donated to the Lastic Hill fire victims. Interact SMC is working on a food drive and fun walk. The proceeds will be used to sponsor a Youth Challenges Awareness campaign at the school. Interact CCSS. The club is now ready for the induction ceremony to re-establish the club. This should be scheduled soon. The Rotary Bus is very active again. PP Konrad inquired about the Interact Club at SISSS. The club has net been meeting regularly. PP Tim M. who s office is next tot eh school has offered to attend their meetings on Rotary s behalf. Dir. Bobby Frederick, Treasurer He referred to the cash donation to the Saint Lucia School of Music in support of their youth outreach program. 50 Music Professionals from Venezuela are once again scheduled to teach several hundreds of local children. The club accounts were made available for review but were not circulated. All the charity accounts are in good shape. The challenge remains with the club account and receivables from members. A club account fund raising activity amongst members is needed urgently in order for the club to be able and meet expenses from PETS and lunch guests. The activity could also be used to learn more about our fellow Rotarians. He advised members that the annual EREY charge of US$ 100 for every member will be applied this month. He closed with another reminder to please take care of our personal payables to the club (account). No reports for Membership and The Rotary Foundation were presented.

District Governor s recognition Awards During PETS and District Conference 2015 DG Elwin presented the annual Awards. Pres. Chester and ADG Tim with ADG Tim receiving recognition for Visiting RC St Lucia South Pres. Aleric the RI Presidential Citation and a DG Award for support of his work as ADG during the Rotary year 2014-15 from PP Konrad and ADG Tim with the RI Presidential Citation and a DG Award for support the Autism awareness initiative of the Autism initiative Rotary year 2015-16 PE Timothy James convened his new board for the first planning meeting for his Rotary year 2015-16 Discussed were ongoing projects as well as some of the new projects under consideration. VR Kitt from the Rotary Club of Vegreville in Alberta Canada was invited to make a presentation on a possible Global Grant Project at the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School, something very dear to her. Also invited was Acting President of the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia South, Dr. Aleric Soanes to give an update on the status of the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia South. The membership there has arrived at a very small number. Some options on how to possibly help his club were shared. Also the question of the very vibrant Rotaract Club of Saint Lucia South was tabled. In all deliberations involving the Rotary Club of Saint Lucia South this Rotaract Club must feature prominently to ensure its sustainability. Following a packed agenda PE Tim highlighted the District 7030 and DGE Milton s areas of focus for his Rotary year. Most of them were discussed in detail and plans for committee assignments were voiced. Also the status of the club account was highlighted by Treasurer Bobby. All in all the new board seems off to a very good start in preparation for the joint old and new board meeting on Tuesday June 2, 2015. Well done PE Tim J.

Rotaract Club of Saint Lucia celebrates 30 years of service The Rotaract Club of Saint Lucia was chartered on April 22, 1985 and is as strong as it ever was. This Milestone is celebrated with a number of activities throughout the week. In addition to a sports day, a community activity, there were special Thursday evening meetings and a sky lanterns celebration on Wednesday April 22, 2015. The presentation on Sexual Health on Thursday April 16, 2015 was as usual well attended. Ms. Patricia Biscette-Modeste from the Saint Lucia Planned Parenthood Association came well prepared with demonstration models and found jus the right tone in her presentation to have her audience involved and at times well entertained. She stressed how we are all sexual beings and saw her as much an entertainer as she is a lecturer Ms. Biscette-Modeste talked about self examination not just for women but also for men and explained what to feel and look for. Other topics included pap smear tests and prostate examination. The presenter talked also about the Rotary Bus and the work done with this mobile (youth) clinic throughout the with and breath of Saint Lucia on a weekly basis. It is an important tool used in the ever increasing financial constraints experienced by various agencies. The discussion on stimulants and the ever increasing new sexually transmitted diseases also led to a discussion on birth control and of course the spread of such diseases like HIV Aids. Here are pictures from the presentation on sexual health lifestyle and choices on Thursday April 16, 2015 To raise much needed club funds the Rotaractors are also holding a Vice President s and a President s raffle. With all these smiles one wonders who the lucky winner is. It is alleged the gift basked was depleted before it reached Rotaractor Glendon s home.
