NEAMI JOONDALUP Adult Community Mental Health JUNE SCHEDULE NEAMI JOONDALUP Unit 1/20 Mercer Lane P: 08 9301 1227 E: joondalup@neaminational.org.au Neami National is a community mental health service supporting people to improve their health, live independently and pursue a life based on their own strengths, values and goals. Contact us Monday to Friday 9:00am 5:30pm. MONDAY GYM GROUP In order to have a healthy mind, it is important to have a healthy body. Both need to be in balance to function as well as possible. Come along and improve your fitness through different cardio, strengthening and abdominal exercises. A dedicated Personal Trainer is available to participants throughout the session. Please remember a towel and water bottle. When: Monday, 11:00am - 12:00pm Where: HBF Arena, Kennedy Drive, Feedback Your feedback is encouraged and actively sought after. If you have accessed support with Neami it is valuable to hear your thoughts. This way we can ensure that we are working collaboratively with consumers to create an effective Recovery oriented service. Please talk to a staff member to complete a feedback form. CRAFT GROUP Come along and bring out your creative side through a variety of craft activities, which can promote confidence and reduce stress and anxiety. Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun and build friendships. When: Monday, 1:30pm - 4:00pm Duration: 6 Weeks, Starting 21st May 2018

TUESDAY NOTES N NATURE Writing Makes us Happier The practice of offloading your thoughts and emotions onto paper has many benefits, and can promote creativity and can be fun. You may want to write in a journal, write a short story, a poem, a song or even write jokes. Come along and give it a go. Where: Various Locations, Notified of location the week previous. When: Tuesdays, 9.30am 11.30am Cost: No cost, bring a pen and paper GYM In order to have a healthy mind, it is important to have a healthy body. ART The Creative process involved in expressing one s self artistically has been shown to improve a person s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. TUESDAY OPTIMAL HEALTH PROGRAM (OHP) This program has been developed after many years of research, and looks at health and wellbeing from a holistic point of view. You will create your own workbook using an I Can Do approach, helping you to highlight any changes that could be made, in order to improve health and wellbeing. Unit 1/20 Mercer Lane When: Tuesdays, 12:00pm 2:00pm Duration: Starting on the 22nd of May, Running 8 Weeks. National Disability Insurance Scheme Transition (NDIS) The NDIS offers individualised funding packages for support services your Neami worker can help you find out if you can access NDIS funding. To be eligible, you need to be: An Australian citizen or permanent resident Under the age of 65 years at the time of application Have an ongoing mental health diagnosis For more information, talk to your Neami worker or call 08 9301 1227 HEARING VOICES A self-help, peer supported group that provides consumers with the opportunity to share their experiences of hearing voices and mental illness in a non-judgemental, safe and confidential environment. THURSDAY GUITAR Come and let your inner rock star out. Join our safe and friendly group - everyone is welcome, no matter your skill level. Guitar lessons are provided to consumers by a qualified music teacher. When: Thursday, 10:00am 12:00pm Where: Super Freak Studios, Unit 3/71 Winton Road, HYDROTHERAPY Hydrotherapy involves physiotherapy carried out in a heated pool. The effect of the warm water relieves muscle tension, and the absence of gravity assists in improved ability to walk and move freely. The group is run by a qualified sports physiotherapist. When: Thursdays, 12:00pm 1:00pm Where: State swim, 6 Buick Way, LET S BUILD CONFIDENCE Learn to improve your selfconfidence through practical skills, and setting goals towards improving confidence and using them every day. When: Thursdays, 2:00pm 4:00pm Where: Unit 1/20 Mercer Lane, Duration: 8 Weeks Finishing 7th June, 2018 WORKING WITH ANXIETY Learn to reduce your anxiety through building healthy coping strategies, learning about triggers and identifying what may work for you as an individual. When: Thursdays, 2:00pm 4:00pm Where: Unit 1/20 Mercer Lane, Duration: 10 weeks Starting on the 21st of June 2018

FRIDAY YOGA Gain overall health benefits such as minimising stress, a calm and relaxed state of mind, learning to balance and strengthening the body through the practise of yoga. It is a system of physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation often practised to promote bodily or mental control and improve wellbeing. When: Friday, 10:30am 12:00pm Where: Guy Daniels Hall, 16 Sail Terrace, Heathridge FRIDAY AFTERNOON SOCIAL ACTIVITIES What better way to celebrate the week and kick off the weekend by catching up with fellow consumers for a Friday afternoon social activity. This awesome group will allow you time to form bonds with other Neami consumers. These fun social activities will also teach you how we can better utilise our strengths to support ourselves and each other in reaching our goals. Friday afternoons will be a time to chill out.
