McCaslin, PhD Section Head Vestibular & Balance Program Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN Dr. McCaslin has authored and coauthored publications that cover the areas of tinnitus, dizziness, auditory function, and outcome measures development. He is also the author of the textbook VNG/ENG (Plural). Dr. McCaslin s major academic, clinical and research interests relate to clinical electrophysiology, tinnitus and vestibular assessment. He also serves as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology and is President of the American Balance Society. Neil T. Shepard, PhD Consultant Emeritus Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN Dr. Shepard has concentrated his activity of the last 20 years on the clinical assessment and rehabilitation of balance disorder patients and clinical research endeavors related to both assessment and rehabilitation. INTENDED AUDIENCE Audiologists Chiropractors Neurologists Otolaryngologists Physical Therapists VNG/ENG Technicians This is an intermediate course for those interested in vestibular testing. Examples of test abnormalities will be discussed and cases used to illustrate how to apply the test results to achieve successful treatment strategies. This course assumes the attendee has a general working knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular & balance systems as well as general familiarity and experience with ENG/VNG testing. LEARNER OUTCOMES At the completion of this course, the attendee will be able to: Provide a direct office vestibular examination. Apply appropriate interpretations for a standard VNG. Apply appropriate interpretations to Rotational Chair, vhit & VEMPS. Understand the use and limitations of Dynamic Posturography. Identify profiles for common peripheral and central vestibular disorders. Recognize the appropriate use of vestibular and balance rehabilitation therapy. Identify and treat various forms of BPPV. Be able to differentiate vestibular migraine and PPPD. REGISTRATION FEES: Registration fees include course tuition, program materials, refreshments breaks and lunches.
