Volume 1 Issue September 2015 North Central Florida Chapter Newsletter Audit Tales President s Message for September 2015 Message from Sachiko H. Leon, NCFIIA President Hello Fellow Chapter Members! The President s message for the month of September is going to be a brag report. Who do I have to brag about? YOU! Inside this issue: NCFIIA in Top 10 for CBOK Chapter Financial Report Volunteer Opportunity June 18, 2015 Quarterly Meeting 2 2 This North Central Florida Chapter recently received a certification for having achieved the Platinum status for the 2014-2015 chapter year AGAIN. The Chapter has achieved Gold status every year since the inception of this Chapter, and has recently earned the Platinum status by maintaining the Gold status for 10 years straight! This achievement is measured by submitting Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) points monthly to the IIA. In the 2014-2015 chapter year, this Chapter earned over 4,65 points. Just to illustrate how great you all are, the minimum requirement to achieve Gold is to earn 1,560 points, so we almost tripled it. Great Job! Here is another one to talk about: The Global Internal Audit Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK) conducted a global survey between February March 2015. The NCF Chapter (yes, that s us) was ranked Third ( rd ) in terms of Member participation percentage! Various reports derived from the survey will be issued and used to enrich our profession. We also received the 2015 Building Awareness Champion Award! We re one of only 11 North American Chapters (Canada, United States, Mexico and Carribean countries) who received this award by promoting our profession during the Internal Audit Awareness Month in May. IIA Webinar: Cybersecurity My dear Chapter members, I will conclude this month s message by saying. IIA Book of the Month 4 Editor s Note 5 Sincerely, Sachi

Audit Tales North Central Florida Chapter in Top 10 Chapters for CBOK Survey Chapter Financial Report The North Central Florida chapter financial records are reviewed by an independent reviewer at the conclusion of each fiscal year. The Chapter has received a signed quality control review from James Moore & Company who graciously volunteers to review our Chapter records each year. Chapter members may access the financial report by logging into the Chapter website, https:// chapters.theiia.org/north-central-florida/pages/default.aspx, and clicking on the Members Only tab. Volume 1 Issue September 2015 Call for Volunteers: Student Event One of the Chapter goals is to advocate for and promote the internal audit profession. A way to accomplish this is to reach out to college students. Our Chapter is partnering with Gleim Publications to feed some hungry Gators with food and useful internal audit information on October 7, 2015 on the University of Florida campus. If you are interested in helping to spread the word about our profession then please contact Lily Ly at lreinhrt@ufl.edu. Thank you for your consideration! June 18, 2015 Quarterly Meeting: Art of Communications Art Adkins gave a lively presentation on communication skills. One tip that all auditors can use: Take the time to listen before offering advice or giving direction. Oftentimes the best ideas are those suggested by the people doing the job.
