SAFEHOUSE CRISIS CENTER INC. The mission of Safehouse Crisis Center is to aid in the reduction of the incidence of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Agency services include crisis intervention, emergency shelter, child exchange and visitation center, victim advocacy, 24/7 Hotline, public education, community awareness, and involvement in legislative reform. Partnership Between Safehouse and Pittsburg State University 2010-2015 Partnership began in August 2010 Brooke Powell, Safehouse Victim Advocate, spent 10 hours a week on the PSU campus It s a win for the university and a win for Safehouse, Dr. Steve Erwin said. But most importantly, it is a win for students and others on campus whose lives are improved through the services Safehouse offers. Brooke became the advisor and trainer for Students for Violence Prevention (Previously SAVE & MVP)
Partnership Between Safehouse and Pittsburg State University 2015 - Present Brooke Powell took the position of Program Director at Safehouse in the summer of 2015 Ali Smith became the advisor of Students for Violence Prevention in July 2015 and referred students to Safehouse advocates Spent 20 hours a week working in violence prevention on the PSU campus In July 2016, Ali Smith was hired full time by Safehouse as the Campus Victim Advocate and is housed full time on the PSU campus

How It Works Memorandum of Understanding between PSU and Safehouse PSU is billed twice each year for the funds that pay advocate The PSU Fee Council allocates student activity fees in order to fund advocacy services 50% of funds come from PSU, 25% from VOCA, and 25% from FVPSA (Federal grants)
