The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA) of 2004, requires that all major allergens present in a food be declared on the product label in the list of ingredients. Major allergens include milk, eggs, soy, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and crustacean shellfish. There are options from which FALCPA allows food manufacturers to choose regarding how allergens are declared. CSM Bakery Products takes the position that any allergen contained in a product will be declared in the product s ingredient statement. Advisory statements such as may contain [allergen], produced on equipment that also processes [allergen], or produced in a facility that also processes [allergen] are not required by the law. Furthermore FDA advised that advisory labeling such as "may contain [allergen]" should not be used as a substitute for adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cgmps). In addition, any advisory statement such as "may contain [allergen]" must be truthful and not misleading. CSM Bakery Products makes all necessary efforts to assure that only ingredients (including allergens) that should be in a product are in a product. This is accomplished by rigorous sanitation practices, thorough employee training, proper production scheduling, and careful ingredient storage and handling procedures. Therefore, it is the position of CSM Bakery Products that only ingredients declared in the ingredient statement will be in the product. CSM Bakery Solutions food facilities have been registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration pursuant to registration requirements of the Bioterrorism Act of 2002. Approved vendors are allowed access with permission. Building access is available only to authorized personnel who possess an authorized keycard. Our grounds are well lit, secure, and employ security monitoring. Security and visitor policies are issued to all employees to increase employee awareness of security provision and unauthorized activities. We perform drug screening on all perspective hires. Additionally, CSM Bakery Solutions is very concerned with matters of food safety and strives to produce the highest quality products available on the market. Our food safety and quality efforts begin at the very start of the supply chain. Prior to supplier approval, we require certifications from our suppliers regarding the wholesomeness and integrity of the raw materials they supply. These documents include Certificate of Analysis (COA), Product Specification, Kosher Certificate, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), Nutritional Information Sheet, Letter of Continuing Guarantee, and Certificate of Liability Insurance. Supplier audits are performed. Further, raw materials, along with the trucks and pallets they arrive on, are inspected upon delivery. Whole loads are rejected if our personnel observe foreign materials, odors, or any uncharacteristic qualities. To provide for food safety in production, CSM Bakery Solutions employs a HACCP program that identifies areas of food safety within our operation and all CCP's (Critical Control Points) where foreign materials could enter our processes. These include, but are not limited to: metal detectors, magnets, visual verification, and strainers. In addition to our own regular selfinspections, we are audited by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and other reputable Third Party GFSI Audit Agencies to ensure that our facility and manufacturing practices are in compliance with federal, state and industry standards.
