MG CONNECTION EASTERN WASHINGTON, NORTHWEST IDAHO PAGE 1

The President s Message By Steve Routt The year ended with a great dinner at Prospector s Bar and Grill for our MG Christmas Banquet and last official meeting of the year. We elected a new board, and with a new board come new ideas and enthusiasm. With our cars being put away for the winter months, we have time to update and repair them for the coming driving season. Oh yes, the driving season: our next get together will be January 13th at the Bunker s for the chili feed. Besides bringing chili, let s bring ideas for some tours. I have a few ideas, and other members have presented ideas as well. We only have about eight months of driving weather so making the most of it is a priority. As for transitioning to the new board, I wish to thank the outgoing board members for the offers of help during the transition period. At our monthly meetings I welcome feedback and ideas that you have and would like to see put to use. If you have an idea for tours or get togethers, just drop me a line by email, and we can get the notice out to the members. Again, thank you to all who donated and purchased items at the silent auction. The silent auction directly benefits the club s endeavors to fund our tours and special events. Steve DUES DUES DUES This is a reminder that the annual Club dues are due January 2018. The dues are $20. Please mail your check to Dave Madison, 7696 N Rude St, Dalton Gardens, ID 83815 PAGE 2

INLAND EMPIRE MG CLASSICS NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2018 2017 Christmas Banquet It was another wonderful Christmas party at the Prospector s Bar & Grill this year! The 49 members in attendance enjoyed great food, great service, and plenty of socializing. The silent auction was a big hit again, with spirited bidding right up to the final bell. Totally unbeknownst to everyone, club member Dave Ronnfeldt took it upon himself to dress up as Santa and surprise everyone with a visit after dinner! In his sack of goodies he had flowers for the ladies and bits of coal for a few naughty members! President Frank Newland spoke eloquently recapping the events and drives the club enjoyed over the summer, and then announced the newly elected officers: President Steve Routt, Vice President Dave Ronnfeldt, Secretary Rebecca Sputhe, and Treasurer Dave Madison. A huge thank-you to these four members for stepping up to take over the club duties! At the end of the evening, each couple was given a gift bag containing a christmas tree ornament with the club PAGE 3

emblem attached, and an envelope with a crisp twenty dollar bill inside. The $20 was courtesy of the club s treasury, and the ornament was the brain-child of Ray Myers, who once again came up with a great idea for a gift (Ray was also responsible for the idea of last year s gift of the coffee mugs adorned with the club logo). A great time was had by all, and we can now look forward to another summer of top-down driving in our little cars! In this issue PAGE 4

ANNUAL CHILI FEED The annual chili feed will be held on January 13th at Larry and Arlene Bunker s home located at 11505 Progress Road, Mica, WA starting at 12 Noon. Please bring a pot of your favorite chili for sampling. The Bunkers will supply all the trimmings for the chili, as well as salad and beverages. After the chili luncheon, a meeting will convene to discuss and plan the activities for the upcoming year. Please bring ideas for drives or gatherings that you d like to see happen this coming driving season. Meet the new Board members L to R: President: Steve Routt, Vice President: Dave Santa Ronnfeldt, Secretary: Rebecca Sputhe, Treasurer: Dave Madison. PAGE 7

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU A big thank you is due the out-going board members for all their years of service. Their unselfish contribution of time and energy was instrumental to the growth and success of the club. Thank you President Frank Newland, Vice President Ray Myers, Secretary Marilyn Vollmer, and Treasurer and Editor Charles Brennan! PAGE 8
