3 Recent reserch on the BAS subscles (Smillie, Jckson & Dlgleish, 2006) indictes tht while drive nd rewrd responsiveness reflect key concepts of the BAS, funseeking is eqully relted to rewrd rectivity nd impulsivity. This conceptul overlp hs led some of us using the BIS-BAS in PATH to use just the drive nd rewrd responsiveness scles (Windsor et l., 2008). Smillie nd Jckson note tht some items of the fun scle re typicl of most impulsiveness scles but hve no obvious links to key concepts relting to the BAS (p. 04-2). Given tht it doesn t pper vlid to equte 2-item version of the funseeking scle with the originl 4-item version, nd the conceptul nd empiricl links between the funseeking items nd impulsivity, the best wy forwrd might be to construct 2-item mesure using the vilble items, nd re-lbel s impulsivity. Preliminry longitudinl fctor nlysis of 2-item impulsivity mesure ws conducted using dt from the yer old group t wves, 2 nd 3 (results re shown in Appendix ). The results indicted good model fit, suggesting tht 2-item impulsivity mesure could be vlidly used for longitudinl nlysis over 3 wves in the yer old group.
