Chris Lee Co-chair of the SF Affiliate 33 HIV AWARENESS AND CORPORATIONS Corporations often champion HIV education and prevention, but are limited to how much they can do in terms of employee intranet sites and official events Many large firms are donors to local and national AIDS organizations Most the larger corporations have comprehensive health insurance plans that offer treatment options 17

18 HOW CAN YOUR ERG/BRG HELP ACTIVATE YOUR FIRM? Highlight in your own ERG/BRG newsletter Partner with local organizations to host an educational mixer and/or virtual seminar Broaden the scope of the message to be inclusive HIV does not discriminate PrEP is often used in committed mixed status couples Will help breakdown stereotypes and ease any hesitation some might have in participating Utilize your resources such as Out & Equal and ERG/BRGs at other firms to help maximize your reach Keep the momentum going The Big Gay 10k, AIDS Walk, volunteer events TEMPLATE FOR PrEP EDUCATIONAL MIXER Moderated discussion panel hosted in partnership with local AIDS org If an in-person event, be sure to include a networking component ie: cocktail hour Key speakers to consider including: Expert on PrEP A representative from a local clinic Someone from the health insurance industry Be sure to address gaining access to PrEP PrEP cost about $1,500 a month Gilead sponsors a co-pay assistance program Two to three individuals currently using PrEP Remember to keep them diverse. Past speakers included young professionals, elderly, and even a straight woman who needed it to conceive a child with her positive husband Have informational take ones such as a pamphlet for your partner organization or the CDC s guide on how to speak to your healthcare provider about PrEP 18
