1 Beta Gamma Sigma Executive Board Application Applications are due by Monday April 2nd, 2018 by 4:30 p.m. Thank you for your interest in applying to be on the BGS Executive board for the RBS-NB Chapter of BGS for ! In the last 5 years, the RBS BGS Chapter has made substantial improvements and has added on many new initiatives. Our chapter is looking to firm up all of its processes so that we do not have to re-define the wheel each year. With this being said, we are searching for a very proactive board that is passionate in legitimizing Beta Gamma Sigma through the events we offer and are looking for a board that can offer great insight on how to improve our chapter. Each board member must be willing to take the initiative to make change on his/her own accord and should be willing to step out of his/her comfort zone to present new ideas to the BGS advisors. If you have any questions regarding Beta Gamma Sigma or the events that we offer, please reach out to Michelle Tomitz at mtomitz@business.rutgers.edu. Available Positions: President Director of Academic Excellence Director of Community Service Director of Marketing Director of Communications Director of Corporate Planning Director of Mentorship Program Position Descriptions: President s responsibilities: Establish goals, plan events, and initiate improvements for the chapter. Establish, communicate, and implement new ideas to expand the reach of BGS at Rutgers. Build BGS brand awareness on campus. Work closely with Michelle Tomitz and Helen Pensavalle (advisors), providing them with periodic updates on upcoming events. Manage the BGS E-board by arranging board meetings and devising the agenda for each of these meetings. Board meetings are held every 2 weeks. Delegate tasks to the e-board members, ensuring events in pillars of academics, community service, mentorship, and corporate planning. Actively seek and act on feedback from BGS members to improve our chapter. Represent Rutgers University at the Global Leadership Summit of Beta Gamma Sigma that is held at a different location each year. The 2017 forum was held in Orlando, FL. Attend monthly COBP (Council of Business Presidents) to stay aware of news related to RBS student organizations and to potentially co-sponsor events with other organizations. In April, the President is responsible for reviewing all Executive Board Applications and assisting Michelle and Helen in the search for a new board for the upcoming year. Attend all BGS events.
2 Director of Academic Excellence Direct all academics related initiatives such as planning and booking group study sessions. Brainstorm new ideas to consistently encourage continuous high performance in school. Match BGS members as tutors for other RBS students who seek extra help in a particular subject. Compile a shareable study bank of outlines and notes for courses in each major. Maintain close communication with board members and advisors. Director of Communications: Manage the BGS account which includes the following: add new BGS members to the account as they join, remove non-active members, and send out s on behalf of the President. Manage the BGS Facebook page and group: o Update the Facebook group and page with posts regarding upcoming events. o Search for new BGS members via Facebook and encourage them to join. Partake in the set up and execution of BGS events. The Director of Communications is responsible for being the main source of communication between the BGS board and its members. The Director of Communications mission is to use Facebook as the definitive tool to increase responsiveness to events. Director of Community Service: Brainstorm new ways to get Beta Gamma Sigma involved with the community. Take initiative in the organization and improvement of the current community events that BGS is involved with such as the Big Chill, Rutgers Day, and the Elijah s Promise Napkin Assembly. Network with other organizations at Rutgers Business School to attempt to join forces in philanthropic events. Present new ideas to the President and to the BGS advisors on his/her own initiative and should provide a unique insight on ways to make improvements in our community involvement. Partake in the set up and execution of BGS events. Director of Corporate Planning: The Director of Corporate Planning should help plan, lead, and coordinate any corporate events that BGS hosts. Finding opportunities for members to network with employers. This could include panels, guest speakers, career fairs, etc. Partner with other student organizations like Beta Alpha Psi to host large events. Hosting networking events independently, and executing on their goals and objectives. Organizing and coordinating corporate site visits. This involves seeking out these opportunities and being a point of contact to execute on site visits. Working alongside RBS Office of Career Management and BGS Advisors to plan events successfully.
3 Director of Marketing: Keep a record of the club's accomplishments and activities for the year Manage social media accounts and programs such as Student Spotlight Take pictures at events and organize them in BGS Google Drive Create flyers, posters, and marketing material for BGS Provide graphics and information for BGS monthly newsletter Create slides that will be displayed at RBS graduation ceremony to help showcase BGS to the RBS community Maintain close communication with board members and advisors Partake in the set up and execution of BGS events Should be creative in marketing events and opportunities to members Should have familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator (or software/websites like Canva) for marketing material creation Director of Mentorship Program: The BGS Mentorship Program allows BGS members to become mentors for students at RBS who feel that they could use general assistance and support from a more experienced RBS student. In charge of all initiatives related to the BGS Mentorship Program Proactively make improvements- The BGS Mentorship Program is a quickly growing program, but it is still relatively new Recruit BGS members to be a mentor in the program and then search for students in RBS who are in need of assistance to become a mentee Organizing 4 large events that are held throughout the Academic year: Major/Career Prospects Panel (Fall), Mock Career Fair (Spring) and the Interviewing Tips event (Spring). Partake in the set up and execution of BGS events Manage, respond and send s from the BGS Mentorship Monitor mentor/mentee progress throughout the program to ensure all members are reaching the minimum requirements Delegate work to the Mentorship Committee Work with other BGS executive board members to help plan and execute all BGS events, in addition to the Mentorship events
