4 Page 4 PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS: American Psychological Society Cognitive Neuroscience Society International Neuropsychological Society International Society for Brain Electromagnetic Topography (ISBET) Society for Neuroscience PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS: My research focuses on the neural correlates of behavioral abnormalities in children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders; especially, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder with psychosis, and disorders on the autism spectrum. This work utilizes behavioral measures in conjunction with magnetoencephalography (MEG), which is a neurophysiological imaging technique capable of millisecond temporal resolution and very high spatial precision (~3mm). In addition, we occasionally use other imaging modalities such as structural and functional magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, diffusion tensor imaging, and MR-perfusion imaging when appropriate given the particular question being addressed. I am currently examining functional connectivity in children with high-functioning autism using basic auditory and somatosensory paradigms, as well as higher-level language tasks presented uni- or bi-modally. Another area of ongoing research evaluates sensorimotor functioning in early-onset psychoses. In this area, we are examining high-frequency (e.g., gamma) responses during basic and more complex motor programming and performance. A third area of research focuses on developing pharmacological MEG (pharmaco-meg) methods. At present, this work is evaluating cortical effects of ethanol ingestion using differing doses per unit time in normal adult humans.
