The brain weighs 1240 gm. Dura and leptomeninges show laceration of the dura membrane corresponding the compound fracture of the left parietal bone with a thin layer of subdural hemorrhages and multifocal subarachnoid hemorrhages, mainly left parietotemporal lobe. Cranial nerves and circle of Willis arise and distribute normally and show no significant pathology. Externally the brain is diffusely congested with edema with a left uncal herniation, and multiple serial sections of cerebral hemispheres, pons, medulla, and cerebellum show contusive laceration of left parietal lobe corresponding to the compound fracture site, approximately 2 cm in greatest dimension, and cortical contusions, mainly in the left temporal lobe at the lateral end, inferior surface and a contusive laceration of the right hemisphere of the cerebellum.
