Holycross Cancer Center a comprehensive cancer hospital 30 outpatient clinics (200,000 consultations/year) 12 clinical departments (22,000 hospitalizations/year) 10 diagnostics departments Holycross Cancer Registry established in 1987 provides up-to-date guidance on the development directions for our Center to offer more effective health care and preventive measures The credibility of our Registry has been confirmed since 1995, with the data shown in the journal Cancer Incidence in Five Continents published by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) - WHO HCC Mission HCC assures comprehensive oncological care, using advanced standards of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. It undertakes special efforts to broaden the knowledge on cancerous diseases, organizing training and scientific research, actively participating in prophylactic programs.
For diagnostics and cancer treatment we use modern thechnologies Computed tomography Positron emission tomography- PET Faith and spiritual support Department of Molecular Diagnostics Raditherapy Surgery and laparoscopy And many many more. Chemotherapy and targeteg therapy
Hollycross Cancer Biobank as an investment in a healthy future, supported by a EU programme and the basis of preventive programmes Capacity: 1 mln tubes at -80C 155,000 tumor samples (tissues, blood, DNA).
Role of HCC in smart living in the health care context Continuous education of society on different levels - schools, industrial plants, other institutions Designing and implementing preventive programmes (breast, colorectal, cervical cancers screening) international studies related to cancer screening and preventive programmes (e.g. Eurocare, PONS). Education of general practitioners
PONS (Lat. bridge ) - Polish-Norwegian Study Establishing infrastructure for a population study of health in Poland (PNRF-228-AI-1/07)
HCC activity Integrating results of several projects: EUROCARE, PONS, Holycross Cancer Registry in cooperation with local authorities (Marshal Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship:) - we can develop plans for screening and preventive programmes against cancer in in Kielce and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship
Future directions - our needs Continuous education of the inhabitants of Kielce and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship with state-of-the-art IT technologies. More effective development of of new screening programmes based on the expierence of Western Europe, including Denmark. Seeking ways to improve our health care organization and structures. Recruitment of the participants for preventive programmes using IT health care personal account. Electronic redord of patients and computer-based appointment option. Development of Telemedicine technologies.
Electronic personal health record Biobanking as a health investment The Bio-PIN concept Biobank Amplifying loop Research
Measurable effects of HCC activity in the field of cancer treatment and prevention Studies that have been conducted hitherto clearly show that before the comprehensive action taken by the Holycross Cancer Center, the survival rate in our province was 34% (prior to 1995), while it now stands at 60%.
We invite you to co-operate with us in the field of cancer prevention research and to exchange expierence in the context of the Smart Living idea
