5 v Influenza Vaccination v Healthy People 2020 has established a goal to vaccinate 70% of the US population 6 months and older annually against influenza. v IHS has committed to work to achieve this goal. v Portland Area currently collects and reports nationally on influenza vaccination data for 6 Federal, 24 Tribal, and 2 Urban facilities. v Influenza Season, Portland Area Results: v 6 mo and older- 43,7% (3rd highest) v Adults 65 and older- - 63,2% (highest) v Healthcare personnel- 60.4% (lowest) v Portland Area Influenza Vaccination Workgroup v Plan rolled out in August to guide Portland Area I/T/U sites to increase influenza vaccination in our Area.
6 v Casey Eye Institute Outreach v Collaboration between CMO and PAO Optometry Consultant (Donald Asay, OD) and David Wilson, MD (Director, OHSU Casey Eye Institute and enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation) v Casey Outreach Van v Provides no cost eye screening for those with little to no access to eye care services. v Screens for refractive error, diabetes, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. v Van had previously deployed to Burns-Paiute Tribe and NARA.

10 v Sanitation Facilities Construction - Impact v In fiscal year 2015 (since Oct. 1), Portland Area DSFC has provided: v Individual site sanitation facilities to 104 homes, v Community facility improvements that benefit 2,140 homes, v $4,520,221 of constructed sanitation facilities.
11 Drought and Wildfires, 2015 Oregon Warm Springs impacted by wildfires Idaho Nez Perce (Kamiah) impacted by wildfires Washington Presidential Disaster Declaration for Wildfires impacting Colville, Spokane, Yakama, and Kalispel IHS Actions Advocated for Tribal inclusion on State and Federal declarations Provide technical assistance and expertise regarding air quality and public health issues Assured provision of critical medical supplies, public health services and environmental equipment to impacted Tribes
12 Situation Summary: Six Tribes have reported some drought-related concerns related to the operation of community water systems. Two Tribes have reported individual homes that have wildfire damage to their domestic water systems. Actions: Providing technical assistance to Tribal water utilities. Secured $100,000 emergency Sanitation Facilities Construction funding for wildfire damage. Approved a new project to replace a failed well at Makah, and currently working with Tribe and USDA-RD for a new project to construct a 3rd well.
