1 Incident Command System & Incident Action Plan Macon County Public Health Exercise November 2006 Macon County Health Department Shannon M. Comer RN
2 Goals Introduce an IAP to the Macon County EOC Command and General Staff as well as the Macon County Health Department IC staff To test the MCHD Pandemic Influenza Plan To allow the MC EOC to explore issues that would be raised in a pandemic situation For MCHD to test vaccination dispensing to the residents of Macon County using a Drive-Through Clinic design
3 Disclaimer In actual emergency, the IAP would be created by a team which would consist of Planning, Operations, Logistics, Information Officer, Safety Officer, Liaison Officer during initial response Only for planned events would the IAP be created in advance
4 Scenario The WHO and CDC have confirmed human-tohuman transmission of H5N1 in Indonesia and other countries. Residents of Macon County have returned from business in Indonesia and are symptomatic in a local hospital. News sources are all over the stories. Other states are also reporting suspect cases. Estimates are that vaccine for H5N1 will not be available until May CDC and IDPH are recommending that LHD s step up efforts to immunize their residents against seasonal influenza at this time.
