1 Course Title: Clinical Training 2 Course Code: C C H S A & B This course is a continuation of the course: Clinical Training 1. Students are trained to provide quality health care to patients with periodontal diseases and provide preventive treatment to other patients. ILO1. demonstrate the proper use of instruments commonly used by dental hygienist; ILO2. recognize variations from the normal oral structure that may indicate disease; ILO3. make accurate clinical judgment regarding the treatment needs of patients; ILO4. perform clinical procedure to help patients with periodontal problem; ILO5. demonstrate a responsible character during treatment of patients. 1. Computer system and clinic software management Type of (Weighting) The course consists of 2 modules. Each module has a 2-hour practical examination: Examination (100%) Module 4 (45%) Module 5 (55%) Student is required to obtain a grade of C- or above in all the practical examinations in order to pass this course. 3 Course Title: Dental Health Promotion Course Code: C C H S A & B The course aims to train students to plan and organize dental health education programme to various group of community members with their dental knowledge. ILO1. present oral health care knowledge to various groups of the community; ILO2. plan, prepare and evaluate a dental health education project; ILO3. deliver oral health care approach in different settings. Under the guidance and supervision of a teacher, students have to 1. prepare Waiting Room Display Board in hospital; 2. plan, design, implement and evaluate a Dental Health Education Project of a specific target group and to prepare report after presentation. ILO1. describe the properties and principle of X-rays; ILO2. operate the X-ray machine properly and safely; ILO3. diagnose dental cases; ILO4. select appropriate radiographical techniques to enhance dental diagnosis; ILO5. analyse the intra-oral and panoramic radiographic images. 1. 5 Course Title: Problem-based Learning 2 Course Code: C C H S A & B This course is a continuation of the course: Problem-based Leaning 1 and offers more advanced, problem-based curriculum with emphasis on student-centered learning. Students are able to access information from many sources independently and critically apply solutions to complex, real-life situations. The implementation of the dental hygienist PBL curriculum will be based on the oral health needs of Hong Kong and developed by specialist staff of the Faculty of Dentistry. ILO1. clarify and rationalize complicated cases/ideas underlying the dental hygiene problem; ILO2. formulate appropriate means of accessing relevant dental hygiene knowledge; ILO3. apply different knowledge to deal with dental hygiene problem holistically.
