Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching programs for the medical students is also an integral part of the department. The Department has been involved in teaching undergraduate students since the beginning of the institution and was sanctioned Postgraduate course (MD) in the year Objectives: 1. To provide quality outpatient/ inpatient skin care service 2. To provide best education in the field of Dermatology for Undergraduates and Postgraduates 3. 3 4. Courses Offered: Undergraduate: M.B.B.S. Postgraduate: M.D. in Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy 3 seats/year Doctoral: Ph.D 1 seats/year 5. Services provided: Inpatient department has 40 beds with side laboratory facility for routine investigations and specific dermatological investigations like smears and staining. Out-patient department have required number of examination and other rooms with sufficient waiting space for patients and attendants. There is a side laboratory with facility for Tzanck smear & staining, Dark-ground illumination, gram staining, AFB staining and fungal examination. There are facilities for video Dermoscopy and Trichogram. There is a separate Phototherapy room with whole body and hand & foot units. Special procedures for vitiligo like like punch grafting, suction blister graft and for acne patients chemical peeling, scar revision procedures, cryo short freeze, dermaroller are done Laser procedures are done for pigmentary disorders, keloids, acne scars, moles, warts and for tattoos. Basic and advanced research projects and drug trials are taken up with the assistance of the Yenepoya Research Centre. 4. Departmental Library has more than 113 books. There is an access to 50 online journals of which 7 are pertaining to the subject along with 8 print journals provided by the central library. 5. Major Equipments which are used for dermatological procedures have been provided in the Department. Most of the equipments are housed and are used in a specially designed Dermatology Procedure Room.
